Deck Description

EDIT: I've added removal and some minor hand-hate in an effort to make this deck slightly less passive. I'm not 100% sure if this is the right direction but I'm going with it for now.

Children of Korliss was a card that completely slipped past my radar when it was re-released in Time Spiral, and I only just discovered it while trying to make a life-gain deck. When I first saw it I immediately thought of how well it could combo with Athreos...

Constructive Criticism very appreciated. Note that the version of this deck I play in real life has 100% less Dark Confidants/Pain Lands, and can even be considered budget.

How to Play

1) Play weenies, trigger Soul Warden/Genesis Chamber.
2) Sacrifice weenies, trigger Athreos/Blood Artist
3) Bring weenies back.
4) Repeat until your opponent is dead.

Deck discussion for The Middle Path: W/B Pacifist

i actually really like this deck. i have always wanted a way to make genesis chamber awesome and this is it. the only thing i can think of is immortal servitude is MUCH better than return to the ranks.

Immortal servitude IS pretty good actually. If I get my hands on some I'll playtest them. My only complaint is that it means I can't call back my Blood Artists and Dark Confidants with the same spell I can get back my Kami, but I can see how massively powerful immortal servitude could be in a deck like this.

I've been thinking a lot about it. Immortal servitude is clearly a more powerful card, but Return to the Ranks is more versatile. Both are potential win-cons, and if I have the mana/creatures Return might actually be better. Yet if I have those resources late-game it kind of makes Return a 'win-more' card.

Yeah all of your creatures are 2 and under so that return works great

Heh, this feel like a 60 card version of my Athreos EDH...Pretty cool honestly. I might be totally wrong, but I think with the low curve you're running, Immortal Servitude *might* be a better choice than Return to Ranks. Also, either way I don't think you need 4 of Return to Ranks OR Immortal Servitude. I think you could use that extra 1-2 cards for something better =]

Both work in their own way, immortal might be better overall but it all depends on the situation. I bought 4x Return so I'll be playing it regardless haha. Also what would you recommend? I've been thinking about making some changes, possibly throwing in Order of the Stars > Mortician Beetle and Silence > Brave the Elements.

Cartel Aristocrat also strikes me as a great option. It's a card which functions as both a fantastic Blocker and/or a great way to ping my opponents for two each turn. It also combos well w/ Necromancer's Ascension, but I'm not sure if running the later is a good call/what should be removed.

I love Cartel Aristocrat, I think it's a very underappreciated card, especially for sac based aggro.

It's essentially immortal in this deck, plus a good source of pressure. Idk what i should take out for it though, plus it has negative synergy with Genesis Chamber.

Have you ever though about Tithe Drinker? Its a 2 Cost drop with extort and lifegain if you need to defend with it. You bring your creatures back over and over and extort could trigger really easy with Tithe.

Vizkopa Guildmage + Children of Korlis = An amazing Combo! If you can sneak this in like jeezus! Have them both out. Let them hit you hard, Sac the Child and Use the Guildmage ability to hurt them for life you gain this turn. So you could end them with this easily!

Hmm, both are good suggestions. I was thinking about adding extort to this deck but I'm not 100% sure what I could remove to bring it in. Vizkopa guildmage is also a fantastic idea, and now that I know about it I really want to add it, but I'm not sure what to remove. Plus I don't want too many two-drops or else I feel they'll slow me down.

I made some changes w/r/t your comments, namely I put in the Guildmage, check it out.

Yeah that's really awesome! It just allows your creatures to be even more flexible with the Guildmage out and just another combo that you can use to help you secure your win even faster! Looks pretty good

The good people @mtgsalvation made a good point that the deck was too passive. And while that's part of the point I agree that it's good that I've sped up the process a tad. Orzhov Charm was another suggested addition, it can reanimate my guys and also combos great with Korlis + Guildmage.
