Persecution by Sliver

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (27 cards)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

1) My goal above and beyond all else is simply to have fun with it!
2) This deck is always a Work In Progress. All input is needed and much appreciated.
3) I have effectively used the Sideboard section to put cards I have in excess. It should give an idea of what I have thought on, taken out, tried, and put in.
4) I have all the cards above (in the mail at minimum), and it should be mentioned my wallet is financially limited.

An interest has grown into a passion, so years ago I reduced from three decks to a single deck of Slivers. Thus, I am open to investigating overseen possibilities for combos and individual cards that will potentially help the flow or power of this deck.

Slivers are the name of the game here.

How to Play

Slow opponents play;
Stop opponents "big hitters";
Get creatures in battle FAST.

All equally sought after.

PLEASE LIKE ABOVE! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

FYI: The reason I do not have some of the creatures I own here, and the reason I only have 3 of any given card when it appears I should have 4, is Living Wish. I have 3 copies of Living Wish in this deck so I can choose which card is more applicable to my situation at any given time.

Alluren makes for a great card in slivers, depending on how agressive your local meta is. However, if you wanna go VERY competitive, and build something fast, powerful, and versatile, i recommend taking a look at my legacy Bant counterslivers decklist. http://www.mtgvault.com/kennythedestroyer/decks/legacy-slivers/

-_- personally i hate slivers and make it a mission to destroy them alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

on a more helpful note, can u give me more of a direction u wanna go with the deck?? do u wanna just swarm the board with slivers, want to control the game and just swing with a couple big ones?? i have a friend with 4 sliver queens and a couple copies of the other legend slivers, its a good deck when it runs right. his problem is mana, he doesnt have enough and wont listen, lol his next problem is me with a burn deck.

anyways if u can answer how u want to play the deck the tweaks can begin.

Haha well... my journey in this deck comes down to attempting a somewhat consistent win within 6 turnssssss

The noncreature nonland cards are there to slow opponent, stop opponents "big hitters," and to get my creatures (Survival of the Fittest, preferably the right creatures) out FAST. As well as a few creatures on second thought: Magus of the Moat, Fatespinner, Sen Triplets, and Phantasmal Image to some extent.

I had a big problem with mana for quite some time! Thus, made all mana "any color" mana less the Inkmoth Nexus lands because of their flying poisonous capability. This change combined with Aether Vial quickly fixed my mana problem.

90% of the time victories with this deck are with poison counters, although the sliver legion and sinew/muscle slivers do play their role.

If I had to sum up what I want to be answered, it'd be:
1) What do I have to worry about?
2) Need more countering spell cards?
3) Ways to speed it up?
4) Missing any obvious cards that should be in here? Any holes in this deck?
5) Is the necessary power here?
6) ?WorkInProgress?MoreQuestionsToCome?

Also, read through any unknown cards to perhaps gain an understanding of some connections I have installed in this deck... any changes recommended should take these into consideration. Of course, I'll explain anything that is unclear.

Thank you!

ah well then. with all that said, im more of a power house fast hittin kinda duelist.

a list i would use is:

4 gemhide
3 crystalline
3 door of destinies
2 legion
4 virulent
3 shifting sliver
4 sinew sliver
3 or 4 chromatic latern
1 primal surge
4 metalic sliver
1 wild pair
1 wheel of sun and moon
3 muscle sliver
4 gemstone mine
4 rootbound craig
4 sunpetal grove
4 sulfur falls
6 forest
2 evolving wilds

thats the deck i would run cause its more of my style. it would need some more tweaking to make it really strong but not every deck can win every match all the time.

hope i helped.

For sure, I believe it's part of the beauty of MTG. That is, the fact "not every deck can win every match all the time." I would expand upon the idea and say 'no deck.'

You definitely helped, thank you!
1 Door of Destinies
2 Wheel of Sun and Moon
3 Chromatic Lantern
4 Primal Surge
All are cards I've seen before and will give more though!

I love the idea of Wild Pair, but I can never seem to make it work? Is it not slow for you?

glade to help, after some fast testing, i would up shifting to 4 and move to the SB surge for now. i would also drop the wheel for another wild pair, just move wheel to the SB. those slight changes can realllly improve the deck.

Definitely appreciate your time, and...

I use to run Shifting, but took them out for Magus of the Moat and Winged Slivers? Is Shifting Sliver really all that good for you? Much better than flying to constitute the 4 mana versus 2.

Also, anther Wild Pair? I'll have to give it another go!

o yes, think about it, unless their creature is a sliver, ur opp cant block at all!!!!!! lol. where as if u have the magus and winged not only is it a 2 card combo, but if they kill one or the other they can block u still. wild pair just gives the deck a lil more speed to me and it lets u get another sliver that u might need to kill ur opp.

not a prob, glade to help out. feel free to check any of the other random decks i have. who knows what ideas can be sparked lol.

Alluren is nice, because slivers costing 3 or less can be cast for free at instant speed. Cavern of souls helps against counterheavy decks, and aethervial works wonders.

1

For Sure :] Alluren I'm not comfortable with because the opponent also gets the effect... I don't want to worry about that. Picked up 1 Cavern, but they're SO expensive. And, Aether IS awesome, wishin it didn't cost SO much too

Add some power house cards in ie: Sliver Overlord, Sliver Queen and Sliver Legion. Should be really fun if you get either of those 3 out.

Thank You!
I have a Sliver Legion, GREAT card although I get to victory quite often through other means. I am unsure what advantages Sliver Overlord and Sliver Queen could offer my deck, and if there's something POWERFUL about them, then what to take out for them??

Sliver Overlord let's you search for a specific sliver you want while Sliver Queen let's you keep pumping out 1/1 sliver tokens for 2 mana each utilizing any surplus mana you may have left over

Ah, both of these I've considered, but for some reason you've made me look at it slightly differently and wonder of the possibilities. I just may have to include them in this sliver escapade

it would be a lot more consistant if you just ran 3 colors and the best slivers of thoe colors. al and all it doesn some like a fun deck i allways wanted to play slivers

Thank you for your thoughts, I run more than three because of the important slivers in that color. My mana is such that it handles the color variety well, I rarely find myself mana locked. Slivers are a lot of fun! I'd recommend you and others check them out!

Fun looking deck!
How do you deal with a control deck? Or worse yet, a tempo/control that spits/vials out hordes of fast critters with annoying abilities, (Grand Abolisher, etc), remove/counter key cards while, (worst of all), are wastelanding your mana sources??
Stifle may be worth keeping around...

You also have quite a few 1 offs, makes you vulnerable to hand disruption, (Inquisition of Kozilek like cards are everywhere).

Thanks! ! Slivers are always fun! This has a few control aspects of its own, and dedicated control decks have not posed an overwhelming threat thus far. Crystalline and Sen Triplets put up a decent defense, and I attempt to have a formidable offense within 3 or 4 turns. There are definitely better decks out there, I won't win em all with this deck, but I haven't met a deck yet I cannot have a good duel with. The hand disruptions are annoying for sure, however it's a situation I hope to get through either by luck or a counter such as spell pierce

2

They sure give you a nice toolbox approach! :)
I like the Crystalline vs control, quick and dirty. Doubt the Triplets will have a lifespan beyond milliseconds tho, to easy to remove.

Hand and Land disruption seems, at a quick glance, like it would cause the most havoc for you. Fear the UB disruptors...

Thanks! Agreed, I think it's something I need to take into account. Although, a winning deck is dependent of the rate of effectiveness... winning two out of three is "a win" and this only requires a winning rate of 66%. Thus for the hand disruptors and such I don't mount a big defense because it takes away from more frequent threats; I consider these to be part of the 33%.

I take advantage of the odds

Hey man just a thought if your really looking to use Sen's why not add in a few hivestone. It turn's all creatures you control into slivers. So Sen's and other non slivers will be better protected and it will add alot more variety to your deck being able to take any creature in the game and make them a sliver. Just a thought :).

1
Posted 07 March 2013 at 05:30

Thank you for the thought!

I have considered this before, the main problem I have with it is the simple fact that I'd have to remove another card for hivestone in order to remain with a 60 card deck. I believe I should keep at 60 cards to provide myself with the best chances of drawing those cards I need in any given dueling circumstance. Hivestone, although it would protect my 4 non-sliver creatures (possibly 7 if I choose to copy opponents' creatures with my phantasmal images), I feel it does not provide me with a crucial advantage to winning any given duel.

Just watch out for Engineered Plague...

1
Posted 07 March 2013 at 22:50

Thank you for your comment, but I do not see Engineered Plague as a big threat. I have various defenses to counter a -1/-1 to my creatures; sinew slivers, sliver legion, mindbreak trap, spell pierce, as well as a plated sliver.

Ancient ziggurat would be a nice land to have in this deck.

1

I originally had it in there, but took it out as I added more noncreature cards... it's great, but with few lands I often only draw a land or two and cannot be handicapped to only using that mana for creatures.

Ive thought about cost of arms, my goal is to win within 6 turns though and I usually have enough power in the slivers themselves additional power is not necessary haha

Is it just me or are there others out there that think CoA is total junk? I once ran into a Legacy White Weenie, (admittedly not a very good one), that ran CoA in the main and decided to drop it against my Goblins. I swung for 32 the next turn!

Do you play slivers? Magma does not seem worth the mana cost? I may have to give it another go, last I tried it didn't carry its weight very well even though it seems like a great card. Thank you for your comment, it's been awhile since I've considered Magma

Is the makeup of my current sliver deck and it tends to eat people alive with only an occasional mana issue but due to Coalition Victory it is best to continue using basic lands.

On another note I do like the idea of having a Living Wish in there to bring in a few broken cards from elsewhere in my collection.
