There has been a lot of controversy regarding the unbaning of stoneforge mystic into the modern meta game, I will start by saying that I have no problem with the card in a synergistic mono white equipment deck. The problem with the card however is that when you step into the realm of mid-range and control decks the card is way to efficient and due to its unhealthy nature the meta would be forced into a state of needing to answer it or die as well as play it or die. The meta game would divert to the two decks above with each racing to cast stoneforge and get the corresponding sword. The stoneblade shell would race to cast stoneforge then put an equipment to either a colonnade or a hawk and leave up disruption in the form of spell snare(counters other stoneforge and goyf). On the other hand we have the abzan deck that trys to win by using early game disruption like removal and hand attack to stop what your opponent is doing and then casting stoneforge and if your opponent even stumbles a little bit the game is over because now I cast a rhino, it's like the old abzan deck but you multiple that by ten. If we as a community allow stoneforge to be u banned then we may as well unban hypergenisis and dark depths.

Hi snapcastingbolts,A deck with a lot of Discard, Counterspell, and touch of white removal may be a way to tear these decks apart. But yeah stoneblade decks will obviously be tough to beat.

Wear and tear as well as Kolaghan's command r the only hope for this but even if I may be a control modern needs aggro decks and stoneforge punishes aggro
