Deck Description

Taking this deck to a tournament before Avacyn Restored comes out. I think there are too many aggro decks and ramp decks about making stonehorn + venser softlock able to sneak in unnoticed.

Please let me know what you think should be added or cut from the list.

Deck discussion for Venser Control

I would remove Druidic Satchel for a geist-honored monk. If you don't need to be bouncing stonehorn then you keep bouncing her for tokens and go aggressive.

my reasoning for the satchel is to act like a 4th talisman or a 5th planeswalker by either giving 2 life at a time or to sneak lands into play to thin the deck.

I like the geist suggestion. However do you think it is a little too slow in the 5 drop position which it shares with venser and gideon?

You;d be playing it as a 6 drop so you can be playing something when they're dropping a titan. It gives you blockers and power. And flying is very relevant in the current meta.

I can see how a monk could be like a 5th stonehorn target for venser and provide a finisher for with Venser's second ability. I just do not see it being powerful on its own though. Like would I play this over say a sun titan to get back artifacts, oblivion rings, talismans and geists and blade spicers postboard? It seems like I do need the monk needs some more enablers beside venser to make it powerful enough.

With Venser is can get out of hand every time you bounce it you'd get the two tokens to block with and it's a more aggressive route than a Sun Titan. In my opinion Geist would be a stronger win condition and a great answer to the decks pack full of fliers. I would run the sun titan in sideboard and swap the geist out when you need to be bringing things back. Sun titan would help more against a wolf run deck back with artifact/Enchantment hate, but otherwise I think geist would be a better choice. If left alone too long Geist can get out of hand very easier. Two or three bounces and it's gonna be threatening.

Is your board tuned for your metagame? 4x Celestial Purge seems like quite the commitment. I'm running 2x Revoke Existence mainboard, and a third plus a Divine offering SB, and I almost /always/ board the other two in. In the overall meta currently, most decks are running swords, then there are Birthing Pod decks, Wolf Run uses a number of artifacts, Esper control uses a number of artifacts and enchantments, random decks using obliviong ring, etc. They're just so valuable, I think adding more would get you further than 4 Celestial Purge.

That is much better idea than the celestial purges. What would you cut from the main board to add the revoke existence?
