Have you considered gyre sage over the karametra's acolytes?

I have, didn't think I would rack up enough counters to beat out the devotion ramp.

Gyre Sage is definitely really good, and instead of Wasteland Viper go Slitherhead all the way.

I thought about slitherhead, but when I filled up the list, I didn't have a spot for it. I need the Viper for it's deathtouch, but seeing as I haven't played this deck I don't know how well Viper or Slither will do. So, I'll toss Slitherhead on the side.

Bow of Nylea, gives death touch, life and counters

Bow of Nylea is nice, but the issue I had with that is that the deathtouch only applies to attacking creatures. This would mean that I would have to drop something for the Bow and I should be fine without deathtouch. Unfortunately, with it's counter ability/life it's a little too slow for my liking.

I like this deck, but I am unsure of your placement of Garruk. He seems so out of place in this deck and you are going for a ramp style and +1 counter deck. My suggestion is this, but all in all it is your creation :)

-2 Garruck
-4 Hindervines
-2 Forest

+2 Sliterhead
+4 Sedge Scorpion
+2 Swamp

My reasonings for this is this will give you more Green devotion from the Sedge and Slither (+6) as they will stay in play. Hindervines would make a great card for your board in place of the Slitherhead. Also the Sedge Scorpion would give you another one drop with deathtouch.

Think I might drop Garruk for Slither but I don't think I'll need more 1-drops than that, Viper does it's job pretty well and I think I have enough swamps that I won't have an issue drawing one when I need one.

So;

-2 Garruk

+ 2 Slither

I like to take a Crypt ghast method to my hydra/counter decks currently, though using the green devotion is a good idea. Maybe thing about upping the swamp count and trying the Ghasts?

My question is does "Corpsejack Menace" affect the power that "Kalonian Hydra" can get through its ability. that's something ive been curious to for a while now

it says any counters added, so I would assume yes

the ability states "If one or more +1/+1 counters would be placed onto a creature you control, twice that many +1/+1 counters are placed instead" . The key word to look at is "placed" so is Kalonian Hydra placing counters on itself? for I don't see the word place or a variation of it in its text.

doubling the amount of counters is in fact placing twice that many counters on each creature....so there for as to your comment a corpsejack mennace will indeed put twoce that many more again

I agree with most of what you said, but I would keep in at least two burst of strengths, and drop 2 gyre sages in place of them

shoot my luck with lands I get mana screwed with 24 :( the magic gods hate me

From my experience 18 lands isnt too bad as long as you have other sources for mana, such as the Mystic and Acolyte. I haven't seen too much mana screwing except maybe a couple times which would be as common as in any other deck with base 20 lands. I may try this deck first and if I notice I'm having some issues with mana/early game I'll try it your way. I tried to go a little cheaper than my other hydra decks because I noticed how expensive they were, that and Corpsejack Menace is a beast.

At 18 lands your chances of getting out a karametras acolyte are far less than getting out a gyre sage or a caryatid. I'd either go 21-23 lands or drop the acolyes for gyre sages or even sylvan caryatids. Also I agree with a lot of the above comments, dreg mangler and mistcutter hydra would be really sweet in here, maybe over hindervines, forced adaptation, or burst of strength. Or you could go down a vastwood or two for some mistcutters easily.
Another really important thing to add is golgari charm, which is insanely good in the current meta. One ability protects you from supreme verdict, which could end the game for you without any draw power to recover. Another destroys bident, whip of erebos, boon satyr, spear of heliod, etc. The last completely wipes master of waves, possibly killing off a judges familiar along the way. Overall a really solid card for any deck in the colors, I'd go 2 main 2 side.

you know what I have found is Lotleth Troll can be use really well with Ordeal of Nylea turn 2 get him out turn 3 use the ordeal sac a slitherhead from hand scavenge and attack sac ordeal for 2 more lands. That is 5 lands and a 5/4 with trample by the end of turn 3.

Yeah that too. Low costed creatures that abuse counters, corpsejack, hydras, and ramp are all you should want in this deck, along with golgari charm and maybe a bit of removal. With access to putrefy, abrupt decay, and heros downfall, the deathtouch seems a bit inferior. I love the concept of corpsejack with kalonian though, by BUG deck does the same thing.

I agree and as a suggestion remove Wasteland Viper and add Lotleth Troll since he himself can be nasty and can make your opponent really scared and use some of their control cards on him over your hydra.
