Deck Description

This deck's win condition comes from Maze's End - you want every kind of guildgate on the battlefield. To that end, this deck is going to play a little differently - and flickering your creaures is going to be important to staying alive/getting your gates.

Obviously Gatecreeper vine is essential for grabbing those gates. Zhur-Taa druid and Greenside watcher are there to add a bit of extra mana to make up for the tapped entrance of the guildgates. Realmwright should be played choosing forest/island to ensure that no matter what land you tap, you can always have access to green/blue mana.

MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS TRY TO SEARCH A DIFFERENT GATE BUT ONE THAT OFFERS THE BEST MANA OPTIONS AVAILABLE FOR YOUR HAND.

The gatekeepers will help your game last slightly longer (with 7 life gain per entrance) or just add an extra card. Choosing to flicker a creature offers the ability to gain these bonuses multiple times if no Gatecreeper vine is on the battlefield.

It can also be used to reset your Progenitor Mimic (if you have a Gatecreeper enter the battlefield later in the game for example).

Warleader's helix and Render Silent are there to help you buy some more time, either by destroying a non-attacking threat (like a guttersnipe), or shutting down an opponent's casting for a turn.

Lastly, Urban Evolution allows you to play a second land in a turn -- which essentially shaves off a whole turn before you can win. The three card draw ain't bad either. If you have nothing to cast, but have a Maze's End on board, do not forget about its own search ability (which puts Maze's End back in your hand so you aren't out a land either, and have the chance to do it again next turn).

Deck discussion for Guildgates

Have you play tested this? How does it do?

When I drafted for Dragon's Maze, I was telling others that I wanted to make a Maze's End deck. They just simply laughed at me and said no. This is what I envisioned so I'm curious how it does.

I built a gate deck and it's pretty fun to play , I'd recommend running some crackling perimeters for some damage lol check out my charm bracelet deck!

I haven't played it yet - I'm geussing it will be slower because of all the tapped lands though. I might make it non-standard to see if I can get more out faster.

Keep it standard. I think that is where the challenge is!

Throw in some flicker, maybe? Lone Revenant for example. You can flicker Gatecreeper Vine for more gates. There are better flicker cards out there, I'm just going to be late for work if I research.

Definetly a good idea - exchanged boros charm and one Zhur-Taa Druid for cloudshifts and Ghostly flicker. Being able to do it to the Saruli Gatekeepers is prety awesome too.
