Deck Description

This deck is a pretty straight forward ache type of decks, it’s a midrange surrounding monsters, get your Goreclaw our to make the majority of your creature cost less and gain Goreclaw’s ability during attack phase. However, the deck sustains well without goreclaw so you can play with or without the big bad bear.

Get creatures out and over come their boardstate with big baddies is how this deck truly plays out. Abrade is there for the early game threats and the artifacts that can bomb our board state. Blossoming is an all around powerhouse defence card in this deck, it’s brutal to beat them down with a hex proof creature.

How to Play

Gain control of the board state with overwhelming creatures that crush through your opponents board state.
Generally you want to hold back unloading your deck all at ones to stay away from board wipes so good back multiple copies of your ghalta and glorybringer , rekindling is fine because it’s mechanic to bring it back.
It’s always good to see your early threats on the board before goreclaw such as Thron Lieutenant, Jadelight and Rhonas, , rhonas can turn on Jadelight and Thorn lieutenant to active rhonas’s Attack as well as receive Goreclaw’s triggered ability.
I always try to active Rhonas’s ability before swinging in so as to capitalize on the full function of Goreclaw

Deck discussion for R/G Monsters

Looks like a pretty sweet deck. I think that it is going to do well. But, I have a couple suggestions that you might want to consider. Maybe consider adding Steel Leaf Champion, that way you can turn Rhonas on earlier, and with Goreclaw, a 6/5 with trample is nothing to scoff at. Also, maybe consider adding more mana dorks, just so you can get to your big baddies faster. Those are the only suggestions I have. :)

I agree with the Steel Leaf Champion, I already had him in mind. I am play testing him first simply because he is three green and I don’t want to fuck myself over. I could drop two Rekindling Phoenix to lower the amount of red in the deck and replace them with Steel Leaf, though I would want atleast three steel leaf so I don’t know what to cut, and for the mana dork, I would have to cut my Thorn Lieutenant’s which may just be the correct thing to do. Which mana dork would you suggest, It would have to be a 2 drop and consist of a power of 2. Just so it can also be a generator with Rhonas, while also benefiting from goreclaw.

I’m going to try out Steel leaf tonight though cause he’s a straight up boss. Thanks :)

Well the two best I could think of are, Rishkar, but he's three mana, not two, but he does give +1/+1 counters, and I think your deck would like that, or Druid of the Cowl, but he doen't have two power.

Another suggestion is Marwyn, the Nurturer, but you would have to add more elves, and you might not want to do that.

Also Channeler Initiate, but he and Rishkar are rotating out soon

Sorry about the multiple posts, cards I forgot about keep poping into my head. Anyway another mana dork is Draconic Disciple.

Haha it’s fine. I think the only two viable drops are Channeler initiate or Servant of the conduit. The channeler is good but doesn’t turn Rhonas on quickly enough, I’m leaning towards servant because she has 2 power, can turn on Rhonas and has two turns to tamp my board which is more than plenty since it’s one mana of any colour.
I’m going to try her out and see what she’s like.

Additionally she can weed out the mana requirements for my Rekindling Phoenix and Glorybringer with the double red I’m a primarily heavy green deck.

If you're going to go that route, consider adding a couple aether hubs to your deck for the energy, and they can tap for any color, which is cool.

Yeah, I do think Aether hub is a great addition to the land source. If you have any more suggestions I’d be happy to hear.

Anyone have any suggestions for my size board?

Giganotosaurus is an option, quintuple green is risky, but a 10/10 for five, that can gain trample because of rhonas or goreclaw, is nice. But the quintuple green does make it so he can be quite risky and if you draw one of your mountains it will delay him a turn, so its up to you.

By the way, I forgot to ask, how has the deck been working?

And for sideboard, the best way to determine your sideboard, in my opinion is just to keep on playing, if you're noticing that you're continually losing to one architype, then add a card in your sideboard to counter it. But just by looking, in my opinion, it looks like your deck can handle most deathtouchers with abrade, and it can deal with most other creatures, however it doesn't have a lot of flying removal or token control, so if you're facing a deck that has one or two huge flyers, or a deck that has a ton of tokens with hexproof, *cough* merfolk *cough*, then you'll kinda be at an impass, with the unblockable thing that merfolk has. So I would recommend a card like sweltering suns for merfolk/token control. Though this card would destroy your goreclaw, as well as your mana dorks, it might be worth it if it wipes most of your opponents board as well, especially, if you have Ghalta out. For flying control, you have Vivien, but you migh want to add Plumet or Pierce the Skys, though this is a tough call, because Vivien does take control of flyiers pretty nicely. Another thing to consider is more enchantment control, because white has a lot of enchantments at the moment that prevent creatures from attacking or blocking, so something like Naturalize.
