People can think what they want. I think of making these decks as just "can I stick to the theme and be reasonably effective". They're not efficient, not going to win in any tournaments, and they're usually all pretty cheap. I made a blue white populate deck just for the sake of not being green white because it's an idea I wanted to try. I'm sure his suggestions would make a much stronger deck, but I saw a fungus, said "Hm, I wonder if there are more", and went from there.

Exactly! If we all listened to people comments like that and didn't think for ourselves, we'd all have the same decks. I love making original decks myself, even if they're less efficient; as a side-note, évery deck in MTG can be made more efficient. It's also fun to play against people who see your first 2-3 cards and come up with a quick analysis of your deck, "Ah, must be this or that!", and then play stuff they totally don't expect. And kick their ass, or not, but still have loads of fun with your own designer deck :-)

I agree but still there are some cards that need to be in there to increase both win ratio and fun. . .
