Sure it would be nice to fly first class, sip mai tais and rub elbows with Brimaz and Elspeth. For most of us shlubs it's economy class though! For those of us not strolling through the express line I provide a deck of fatty flyers for low mana.This deck actually started from trying to build a deck playing around with Hour of Need and Battlefield Thaumaturge that wasn't quite working. This is attempt number two at a deck for Hour of Need.
The idea is to get some fat flying creatures sooner than normally possible. There are free spells to open up Illusory Angel for a turn 3 4/4 flyer. Ensoul Artifact + Ornithopter for the turn 2 5/5 flyer (Darksteel Citadel and Tormod's Crypt as backup targets). Or sac an Ornithopter, Vortex Elemental or Omenspeaker with hour of need for a turn 3 4/4 flyer. Vortex Elemental, Singing Bell Strike and Voyage's End to help stall if the draw isn't going perfect. Scry on the Omenspeaker and Voyage's End to help set the draw. Fated Infatuation to double down once you get a fat flyer.
