Deck Description

When I woke up this morning to go to the gym(back and biceps day, insert sarcastic "woo") I inexplicably had the idea to put polymorph and undying together.
(Weird, considering I didn't dream about anything magic related, I was in some kind of community service program for felons, and my boss was a Howard Stern look alike. Don't ask, I have no idea)

So anyway I spent the entire hour at the gym trying to figure out which color combo I wanted that would make it work. By the time I got home, I decided that undying creatures + polymorph+ zameck guildmage= win. So simic it is (simic isn't really my thing, but I couldn't think of counter removal in black that isn't horridly inefficient) Sadly, mass polymorph's wording is all wrong, which bummed me out. So, spending the rest of my day intermittently devising a rough draft card list, consulting with some friends, this is what I came up with.

How to Play

I want to abuse the undying mechanic with polymorph and the token generators, using the guildmages to either remove the counters for card advantage or pump up the non undying guys.

Rancor just seemed to fit extremely well since they should be dying a lot, and I wanna pump the undying guys without using their counters, while the Prophet allows counter manipulation every turn, hopefully reducing the chances of getting caught with my pants around my ankles. Remember, I play almost solely kitchen table multiplayer free for all.

Lumberknot seems like a good fit, and a decent place to dump the counters when I don't need the card advantage. Add in hardened scales to make the knot and moving counters beastly, and I think I have a good thing going on.

However I feel like it's missing something, and would greatly appreciate any suggestions you guys have (like I said, simic just isn't my thing).

Deck discussion for Undying Polymorph

Lol well it truly is a shame that both of us have trouble with the U/G combo...this deck looks amazing though. Off the top of my head the only thing you're missing is some mana ramp...maybe gyre sage would fit well? I'll have to do some looking around to find a better suggestion because I don't really know what you could take out for gyre sage..

So far though, hugely impressive and unique idea.

Gyre Sage.. why didn't I think of that? I use them in my budget rg +1/+1 counter deck. Her evolve fits in quite nicely, and shes another creature who's good for the counter swap. Nice save Gran.

Well damn. Hardened Scales tended to screw me over more often than help me, so that's out. Lumberknot was removed for Elusive Krasis, and now I'm second guessing that particular move. My big problem seems to be flying, so I'm thinking about losing a strangleroot and a young wolf for a couple stormbound geists.. and maybe switching the elusives out for the horizon chimeras. Give and take always seems to be a meh play.. so I gotta find something better for those slots. Whatchu guys think?

You do actually have enough "kill" to deal with a big annoying flyer. But for those hordes of small flyers (cough Kevin) maybe Skyreaping or Crossbow Ambush.

Now why would you want to do a thing like that? :D
