I have seen both rat and discard decks perform relatively well, and I believe that the two strategies have an excellent synergy that I enjoyed exploring.
Gnat Miser, Burglar Rats, and Inquistion of Kozilek apply pressure early, with Inquistion removing any early options your opponent may have and Gnat Miser forcing discards if they don’t play fast enough. Since Gnat Miser and Burglar Rats are ineffective once they’ve been sitting on the field, they offer appealing, easy fuel for Nezumi Bone-Reader and Altar’s Reap; furthermore, they can be swallowed by Pack Rat if drawn late game. Any creatures played by your opponent before their hand disappears can be dealt with via Tragic Slip and Dismember, and Pack Rat and Shrieking Affliction serve as the win conditions. Altar’s Reap and Sign in Blood keep your momentum going as your opponent grinds to a halt. Typhoid Rats is very flexible, serving as sacrifice or discard fuel if not needed as a blocker. Wrench Mind is simply an excellent card because most opponents will not have an artifact to discard.
