Deck Description

I really like the Jeskai. They're not that big, agressive, or otherwise openly threatening. But they certainly do have a lot of nifty little tricks with which you can surprise your opponents and the creatures to go along with it. There's a lot of synergy in this deck, and quite some spells can be used in multiple ways. Your opponents never know what will hit them next time! The prowess and heroic mechanics are quite symbiotic if used in the right way, and Jeskai Ascendancy is a card which in my opinion deserves to have a deck built around it. It's even better if you have two!

To goal of this deck is to have an answer to almost everything, and to always keep options open. Answering in this context doesn't necessarily mean destroying. It means keeping your creatures alive and preventing your opponents creatures from doing too much harm. The low mana curve will mean that you can go through the deck quite fast. With a lot of scyring and quick ways to draw cards, top-decking what you need often isn't that hard and you can filter out the lands you don't need.

Btw: I might be presenting this deck like a 'finished product' which has been plasytested many times, but it hasn't. I've played a few games with it, I estimate the victory rate to be around 70%. Your commentary is very welcome!

How to Play

Be clever and always evaluate your options. Think ahead.

Bluff. Once your opponent knows you're playing Deflecting Palm, he'll be very careful about attacking if his own creatures can kill him.

Put effort in keeping your creatures alive. You don't have that many, but the ones you do have are usually very important.

Even though you have a low mana curve, a late-game victory is possible. Preferably, you should try to put some pressure on your opponent if he/she doesn't go all-out aggro. Your heroic creatures should grow bigger, Jeskai Ascendancy makes everything you own bigger and also let's you 'cycle' your cards.

Of course there's the Fabled Hero + Titan's Strength combo. But a favored hoplite with a Titan's Strength can also kill a Polukranos and survive.

I made sure to add many different non-creature spells, rather than 4 of each. Apart from adding to this decks 'flavour', I think this also contributes to the element of surprise. Even in a possible third round, you opponent probably hasn't seen all the spells you have.

About the mana-curve: some play-testing has hinted to me that 22 lands is enough. You'll usually be drawing and scrying the ones you need anyway.
