I wanted to play a bit more defensively -- instead of trying to be the fastest in pumping out creatures, I wanted to focus on eliminating threats first.
Deck focusing on removing enemy creatures until I gain the upper hand. Most creatures have deathtouch -- I sacrifice them if necessary to eliminate enemy resistance. Removal spells help to get rid of most threatening enemy card, and I try to make sure I can protect some units from removal: Tenacious dead can come back from the dead, Gladecover Scout is protected from the start from spells/abilities and I put in Ranger's guile to protect some key figures.
