Deck Description

Discard-based damage deck with a backup lifesteal component in case megrim and/or the rack aren't in play.

PLEASE NOTE: I do not, and will not, use any cards that were created after Scourge. I only use cards that existed prior to the start of Mirrodin. (I know this is stupid but it's my one and only rule.)

Any suggestions would be great

How to Play

Just like any other discard deck out there. Get megrim out on turn one with a dark ritual if possible and then just start the burn going with hymn or the rack on turn 2. If you play against a burn deck, the drain life, corrupt and tendrils of agony will help you out. You can also deal damage with the creatures even if they have no hand. Even a counter magic deck will have problems just based on the sole fact that you have so many damage options. The real weakness is an aggro deck but again creatures can be focused with drain life and corrupt.

Deck discussion for Legacy Discard

What cards could be added from newer releases? (After Scourge) also, why you have that "rule"? haha it's funny

There are quite a few cards that I could potentially add or change in this deck. I've listed the ones I thought of below. The reason I choose not to is because I quit right before Mirrodin came out and only came back to it this year. I missed 10 years of developments and I didn't like the fact that they made a "Modern" format and not one for just older cards other than Legacy and Vintage which already existed anyway. It's almost like a boycott which is never gonna work but it satisfies something inside of me. Don't get me wrong, I still love the game and can understand how amazing all the new stuff has made it. I just don't feel as thoroughly attached to it as I used to be.

As for some card changes, I would probably start with the following:

1. Replace Megrim with Liliana's Caress
2. Replace Hollow Specter and Abyssal Specter with Nyxathid

Other cards I would have to think about would be as follows, but I'm not sure how I would change up my current build just because of how well it works:

1. Shrieking Affliction
2. Quest for the Nihil Stone
3. Liliana Vess
4. Bloodchief Ascension
5. Distress
6. Mental Agony
7. Thoughtseize
