A sly reference to a recent Friday Nights episode. This is a Grixis deck that is only 2-for-1s, right down to the Commander. Kess is great at recasting old cards; it's kind of what she does.
A 2-for-1 is when you use 1 card to cost your opponent 2. It's the prime focus of card advantage. One of the most plain 2-for-1s would be Dismiss. You're using 1 card to counter an opponent's card and get a new card of your own. Cruel Ultimatum becomes an 8-for-1, because you use 1 card to get 4 new cards in your hand and remove 4 opposing cards. This deck doesn't need Kess in order to function. It's pretty decent even without her. It's meant to be played in a 1v1 Commander game, or you can just shuffle Kess into your deck and play a casual game with friends.
