Deck discussion for Mardu Control (tokens)

I have been running a few different Mardu builds over the past couple of months and here is a couple of things I have noticed:

Elspeth as your main wincon seems extremely fragile, as a single Thoughtseize or Despise will severely hamstring you and a single Bile Blight/Anger of the Gods/Drown in Sorrow can easily cripple the rest of the tokens generated. With no counter ability available you are putting all your faith into stripping their hand of a sweeper before they can drop it, (and it wont work on the most effective sweeper Bile Blight anyway as it is an instant). Maybe add Sarkhan to the super-friends list to add some additional kick? Raise the Alarm at instant speed will likely also help achieving your goal...

Bile Blight's token slayer ability combined with it's combat trick possibility far outweighs Utter End's flexibility at BB versus BW2, especially since you are playing Downfall already. I highly recommend making that swap! If you are not running a full set of Lightning Strike then adding the scry from 2 Magma Jets will likely benefit you more then the 2 Strikes.
3 Murderous cut out of the board seems excessive as you will rearly be able to play more then 1 for cheap, plus the main reason to play it in Mardu is to target Stormbreath and you already have answers for those.

Suspension Field is one of those cards that looks great when you first see it, but turns out to be so limited when you actually play it that it quickly ends up in the SB and from there disappears into oblivion. Chained to the Rocks with 4 fetchlands and 6 mountains is far superior.
Tormenting Voice is just bad in a build where you have access to Read the Bones and to a lesser degree Sign in Blood. Crater's Claws without a reliable Ferocious trigger also falls into that category as Stoke the Flames combines well with tokens.

Hope that helps you out and that you can use some of my observations to your benefit.

First of all, thank you for your comment!
#1) My main Wincon is not elspeth. It certainly is one, which is why I fun it, but against other decks in the meta, it has been hurdling outburst backed up with removal against their big beasties. This is also supported by the burn in my deck (Crater's Claws for the win) (Lightning Strike for the last 3 damage) (Crackling Doom for Fairly Obvious reasons)
#2) The reason I don't like Raise the Alarm is because of the number of tokens it generates, which very much matters in this deck. The reason that Hordeling Outbust and Triplicate Spirits are so good is that they generate massive amounts of chump blockers/evasion(you're attacking with 3 sources)
#3) I have completely overlooked bile blight, thank you for reminding me
#4) Utter End kills any non land permanent on the board. It can't be undone like banishing light, and it's an instant. Do not compare overall removal to creature removal. Because of it's higher casting cost, I only run 2. (And I have other answers to targets of Utter End.
#5) Suspension field answers everything out of range of a 1-3 damage burn spell (Like lightning strike) and I like it better than Banishing Light because it's less mana, allowing me to play another spell (Like Hordeling Outbust)
#6) Tormenting Voice is not a terrible cards, it allows me to remove complete shit cards from my hand and draw two extra cards. I do have Sign in Blood in the sideboard if you need to outdraw your opponents, but you lose 2 life (Which is a matter of life and death in this deck) and it's BB, which isn't so good if i'm color screwed. I honestly don't see the value of Stoke the Flames in this deck as it just set me behind on plays while attacking with a massive horde of 1/1s.

Hey, just trying to help a fellow Mardu player.
#1 and #2 - Tokens as a wincon fails against sweepers when you cant protect them. Hell, even a 1/2 hexproof dude will give you problems.
#3 - You are welcome. Bile Blight will work great in your deck but it is also the bane of your deck. It will basically single-handedly destroy it.
#4 - Utter End is a nice enough card it is just costed very high for the colors you are in. RWB has the best removal in Magic available.
#5 - None of what you said made any sense. It is simply too conditional of a spell when you have access to the best removal in the game.
#6 - Why do you play with shit cards in the first place, (oh yea, you have to dump those Suspension Fields, Triplicate Spirits, Utter end and the 2nd and 3rd Murderous Cut at some point). <grin>

Biggest upgrades you can do quickly is Chained to the Rocks, Read the Bones, Bile Blight and probably Sarkhan. Loose what you would lable as shit you dump with Tormenting Voice and you have a much smoother deck with a quicker response time.

Have fun!
