Deck discussion for Counter/Control King Deck

sounds good and simple in theory, reality is somewhat different in this case, i usually dont like relying too heavily on counterspells when playing blue cause there are simply too many cards to deal with them, especially when facing white and green, so maybe consider a different tactic to deal with threats than with counterspells

into the roil wont do you much good against shroud, also I think its a waste of cards, one for one thats still there... dont see the gain here

add quest for ancient secrets in sideboard or even consider gaeas blessing even if its green, its more effective against mill. add 4 and u wont mind mill decks so nuch

finally the creatures are too expensive, add cheaper, faster creatures if you want to play creature based for the victory

also adding a color may make the deck more viable

I guess you're probably pretty sold on using the Ambassador... Have you tried swapping out three Kraken's Eye for one Jace, the Mind Sculptor, and maybe removing a couple Islands? (Or perhaps playing something with Landfall, so additional Islands confer some benefit.)

I would have to disagree with every comment from ControlGame, except for the comment on shroud (which probably isn't as much a concern as CG suggests), and the comment on adding a color. A permissions deck isn't interested in playing cheaper, faster creatures, because mana needs to be kept open for permission. Also, Into the Roil isn't all that bad (relative to the other cards here), it cantrips when kicked; it annihilates tokens; it resets planeswalkers; it ruins levelers in RoE.

Also, it's absolutely not worth splashing for green to run Gaea's blessing (which puts you out of Type 2 anyway). You have nothing to fear from mill decks: you can counter or bounce their win condition, and you never search your library to trigger an early Archive Trap.

it only takes one vexing shusher really to render ur counterdeck next to useless; plus you can't counter everything your opponent plays; it just does't work like that

@Salient: Actually i realize now that since i need to do combat dmg to trigger Ambassador's ability its not really good for a king deck, so im thinking of replacing it. any ideas on wat that should be?

I would love to add a mind sculptor but its not really in my budget lol.

also, is there a better card then Into the Roil for this deck? i have some Unsummons but i figured into the Roil was better bc i can use it on artifacts, enchants, etc.

You may want to consider Wash Out; for only 2 mana more it can cause opponents some serious headaches and not just if they play mono

it's extremely effective imo and underplayed; you can try it out, see which you like more

Salient is probably right about mill though; although 8 creatures in ur deck will make it hard to be sure to take out anyone; remember counterspells can drain ur hand in an instant; from there onwards I guess it's fingers crossed..
