This was actually originally inspired by a primer I remember reading on the WotC forums that I cannot for the life of me find anymore. It's meant to somewhat counter aggro strategies, which means it should be somewhat effective in the Modern metagame (not tourney level, but decent). The general strategy is: 1. Control the early board with discard, removal, and creatures like Tidehollow Sculler. 2. Use cards like Aven Riftwatcher and Kitchen Finks to regain life. 3. Bring out Divinity of Pride as a win-con. If anyone has any recommendations for good lifegain creatures or cards, please help me out. I did my fair share of gatherer scouring but I don't think I found nearly everything there is.
