Control is an archetype that revolves around keeping your opponent from getting board presence in the early-game, and then completely locking them down and crushing them late-game.Use cards like Inquisition of Kozilek, Thoughtseize, and Liliana of the Veil to narrow down your opponent's hand in the early game. If they do get out some threats, then thin them out with Liliana of the Veil, Hero's Downfall, and Go for the Throat. If your opponent blitzes (gets out quite a many creatures quickly) and gets out a large board presence within a short time frame, use Damnation to throw off their tempo, or, if they blitz with token-giving spells, counter them with Countersquall, Mana Leak, and Cryptic Command.Then comes your lock-down/game-winning phase. The main win condition is beat-down with Phyrexian Obliterator (also a lock-down card) and Creeping Tar Pit. Phyrexian Obliterator also serves to locking down your opponent as well; whenever you attack and they block, your opponent sacrifices an enormous amount of permanents.
