Cauldron of Souls will end up killing your hexmages, hex parasites, and bloodghasts. You could replace it with a cumulative upkeep card and eat the age counters: Hex Parasite makes you invincible with Glacial Chasm, for instance, or gives you extra card draw for the entire game with Phyrexian Etchings.

Uh, that was poorly worded, it just won't save those creatures (the only creatures with >1 toughness already have persist).
