Deck discussion for Black Red Attrition T2

Hellfire Mongrel - By the time this 3CMC creature hits the field your opponent's hand is going to be going down steadily. Hellfire mongrel will be pinging them for 2 each of your upkeeps if you play it right. He also makes a devestating combo with Bloodchief Ascension quickly putting those quest counters on it.

Gull Draz Specter - This is a card I'm testing right now. I don't like having 8 BB costing cards in my deck because it is two colors and I try to avoid being mana screwed. I do have more swamps than mountains and plenty of fixing though so I think it has good synergy with the deck. And whats better than a 5/5 flyer swinging in each turn.

Bloodchief Ascension - I saw this card when I started popping open Zendikar packs and thouroughly read it since Quest cards were new to me. I got the overall concept of Quest and then set it down. Picked it up later and realized it was a super powered Megrim. And from there I built a deck around it and from what I've tested it is very nice.

Liliana's Caress - I absolutely love this card its a cheaper functional copy of megrim. It's amazing, and the best part about it is that the player loses life, so it cant be prevented.

Doom Blade - The new Terror. Again absolutely love this card, It can kill artifacts and the only drawback is that they can be regenerated but not many people are using regenerate these days.

Lightning Bolt - I know Magic's power creeping and I hate that but I love that Lightning Bolt is back BOOM 1 mana 3 damage player or creature. Good card to have when theres an annoying creature on the field, works well with Bloodchief Ascension, and just sucks to be on the receiving end of it.

Duress - The new Thoughtseize. Thoughtseize was awesome but it was a $20 rare glad to see duress, which cant target lands (lame), but can get rid of those pesky Instants, Sorceries, Enchantments, Artifacts, and even Planeswalkers. Great card Sets off Hellfire Mongrel, Bloodchief Ascension, and Caress.

Flame Slash - It may be just me but I'm in love with Flame Slash. It just kills creatures for one mana. Serra Angel? Flame Slash! Great Sable Stag? Flame Slash! Broodmate Dragon? Flame Slash! Shit theres two of em! That's why you run 4 Flame Slash.

Inquisition of Kozilek - Another interesting take on Thoughseize. Good against pretty much any deck. Your going to find every deck out there is going to run several cards 3 mana and less and a lot of them are going to be good. Inquisition of Kozilek is a very handy card to have. It also triggers my three discard pingers.

Sign in Blood - A very controversial card. I hated it at first glance. They get card advantage and only lose 2 life and it costs me 2 mana? But the I realized how much potential this card really has. I can cast it on myself when I'm low on cards and draw 2 for 2 life. I can cast it on them right before I play Duress or Inquisition, or right before I swing with Gull Draz and get rid of something good they drew. If you look at it Like it's giving you more options for discard rather than them gaining card advantage the card becomes worth it. And it synergizes even more because it triggers bloodchief ascension.

honestly i think quest for the nihil stone fits here better than bloodchief ascension because it does more damage. maybe you should also through in some more creatures. with discard being mostly spells that arent instants, you need some defense. also id recommend mire's toll in place of inquisition of kozilek. same cost and usually when u cast it your gonna have some swamps and u can choose any card. and if not then maybe switch out flame slash.

Well I've been thinking about taking the red out and making it full black discard with nihil stone, mire's toll, and bloodghasts or vampire lacerators for blockers. But i do like the 11 card splash of red with all the removal with lightning bolt and flame slash.

I get where your going with nihil stone it is quite nice and I'll consider it over the ascension.

One of the problems with mire's toll in this deck is that I have a total of 6 swamps (3 can be fetched) mire's toll requires several swamps to be effective because the opponent is still a choosing factor in which card is discarded. With Inquisition I get to choose anything nonland 3 and under. Which I know has it's draw backs with the 3cmc maximum but I still prefer it to mire's toll in a multi-colored deck.

So I have a few options

1: 27 card change just an entirely new deck
-3 Hellfire Mongrel
-4 Lightning Bolt
-4 Flame Slash
-4 Mountain
-4 Arid Mesa
-4 Dragonskull Summit
-4 Bloodchief Ascension

+4 Verdant Catacombs
+8 Swamps
+4 Quest for the Nihil Stone
+4 Mire's Toll
+3-4 BloodGhast
+3-4 Vampire Lacerator

2: 4 card change, probably gonna try this out
-4 Bloodchief Ascension

+4 Quest for the Nihil Stone

3:
-4 Bloodchief Ascension
-4 Flame Slash

+4 Quest for the Nihil Stone
+4 Vampire Lacerator
