Deck discussion for Canty Cycling

Lurrus and this fox is so far my favourites.
I'm more likely to build around zirda with my love of creatures with abilities.

Hmm what about jegantha or keruga, or my favorite so far the even/odd ones obosh and Gyruda

They are all too restrictive.
I only use restrictions when they fit my general deckbuilding.
All my paperstrips are restrictive but improve things.

All companions are a one of. In some situations I can even imagine a player not using one to keep the sideboard slot.

I just made a deck that happened to fit the rules of Jegantha, so I put it in, because always having a free creature is good

You also have to think in terms of adaptability.
Having creatures isn't always an auto-win, and the sideboard is the most important part of your deck to win.

Think of it like this. Would you put zirda in your sideboard if it didn't have the companion mechanic?
If the answer is no, then you have to justify if it's worth having on the account of being an 8th undiscardable card in your hand until you use it. That in itself is truly magnificent, but only against certain decks, because logically, that slot in the sideboard is also what will kill you against other decks.

Right now companions are hot, but don't forget that your sideboard is your ultimate defence and you are damaging it.

I'm probably just being less lax, but over the years I've developed an "win at all costs"
Mentality, and companions will sometimes not be part of that.

I did make a deck where Lutri was just in my sideboard for instant decks

Also a companion could be your wincon/be a actually good part of your deck

Could, not would :p

There's also the case of future development.
If one day a card is made that would make your deck 10 times better, you'd be so afraid to lose your companion that you'd not add that new card.

Companions are poison to deck developement!

No, although that's the case for most people, not for me (Unless the deck is based around the companion like this deck) I make the deck then add the companion only if it fits, or I have to take out a filler.

I find all companions to be almost hypnotic.
And since you admitted to be a johnny your attraction to them should be equal to mine.
I put them in the changeling category (never forget that they exist) but I'm definitely attracted to these bad cards.
I've already thought about making a gyruda mill. Just because it's there.

I'm also making a con/pro list so I can visit it frequently when designing, mostly as a warning to myself.
Will release it in about 15 minutes.

Have you heard of lions eye diamond in legacy ?
It will probably be banned due to companion-hype

There, page is built.
Have you also noticed the clause "your opening deck"
That means the sideboard is a safe zone to break the rules after game 1.
Do you know the specifics about decksize after sb. As far as I recall your maindeck needs to be 60 after sb which could mean you'd get to throw the 20 cards from yorion into the sb after game 1.
At least that's how I interpret it. Also with gyruda you get to use 0 cost as 0 is considered to be even (chech ashling's prerogative)
