Deck Description

This is a mono-Black commander deck designed to bend attrition to your favor.

How to Play

The entirety of the creatures in this deck are Vampires, many of which have excellent synergy. With Anowon in play, the enemy are popping every turn, but you are immune.

The spell side is a lot of Drain Life variations, plus a few favorites like Plague Wind and Army of the Damned (Vampire Zombies if Mephidross is on the table...) If you're lucky, you can pull an infinite Drain with Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond!

Deck discussion for The King in Yellow

Yawgmoth's Bargain is on the banned list.

Subversion is pretty weak. I'd replace it with something like Wound Reflection which will have additional synergies with the deck rather than just a one point drain.

You have the original Urborg on the list, did you mean the other Urborg (Tomb of Yawgmoth)? It makes more sense...

Temporal Extortion would be good here. It would combo with Wound Reflection as well. Extra turns are nice but a 20 point burn for 4 is still uber efficient.

I would cut some lands and replace them with draw effects. Mono color decks can get by pretty easily with ~34 lands as long as you have some draw/ramp support. Given enough draw effects (Phyrexian Arena or some one shot effects like Syphon Mind) you'll be more likely to hit your land drops anyway while still having more gas the whole game.

This is all great and taken advice, except wouldn't Tomb of Yawg convert any nonbasic land into just swamps?
I figured Old Urborg was at least a Swamp, with a minor extra ability.

On second thought, I'll put them both in; the Tomb cripples opponent's rainbow land (prob your point...).
If I don't like losing my fancy land, I can always Lux Cannon it!

Urborg just makes it a swamp in addition, it does not change what it currently is. It makes things like Boseiju and Hall tap for B and allows coffers to count all your non basics (including itself) when tapped for its ability.
