the only downside to braid of fire, is i think the mana will empty at the end of your upkeep, so instants only
i remember trying to use it and some one saying the same

Dont forget renegade krasis from your beast deck, droping ooze flux with him on the field can be beast.

ooze flux is great for evolve since it will trigger the evolve again

as much as u want ooze a hydra, like vastwood hydra would work better, because its power is +1/+1 counters rather than just X/X and will work for other things you use. like ooze flux. but most importantly has bioshift built in...

speaking of....
bioshift
bioshift is important for counters. and fits mono green since its hybrid. it lets you save counters if your creature is killed or can pile counters on an unblocked creature for a win.

ivy lane denizen might be useful too

this deck will probably run really beast!

-Defender creatures
hover Barrier
Wall of frost

-Mill creatures
Crosstown courier

-Mill Enchant
Chronic Flooding

-Artifacts- dont trigger sages row but still consider

-mill
Codex shreder
Pyxis of pandemonium
Millstone

-Defender
Guardians of meletis
Pillar of war

Cloud fin, merfolk spy, and way of the theif are useless for mill, more or less, Crosstown courier would make way of the theif less bad for mill, but its not good to only have it usefull on one card.

Mill in standard is better with Blue Black (dimir guild) or out of standard (look up hedron crab, lolz)

good deck, but remember your aiming at an alternate win condition, wasting space with cloudfin just so you have a 1drop flyer, youd be better off with another mill card or defender
because of that way of the theif is not very useful, at most you make a defender a little stronger, but you can do that for much cheaper, and itd be better to use another miller or control card
Damage is useless in mill (outside of dimir... dimir makes damage mill simultaneously viable, though a little difficult to run, trust me mine loses quite a bit)

Neumonic wall, thassa's bounty, and psychic spiral are a little heavy mana wise. so is traumatize, but that one is def worth running.

mill is already hard since the goal is much higher, and requires a devotion to it that makes defending hard some times. Heavy mana mill cards are better in standard with some old school control or drawing power. speed is important, hence why tome scour is so necessary.

im supprised you pulled this out of standard though.
also the whole defender mill concept might be interesting in blue green, as there is a mana accel per defender in green and some cheeper blockers.

door keeper and sages row make an interesting combo for mill with blue defenders... i like it =3

Wow babe, good way to mix gruul and advocate beasts
Id recommend switching burning-tree for
Renegade Krasis
http://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=369033
it can evolve from playing Advocate of beasts, Ghor-Clan Rampager, or Kalonian tusker. Its a beast itself, plus it synergizes with the counters from Advocate, Forced Adaptation, and Burst of Strength. Burning-tree is a great card, since it can be played for free (effectively) but its not a beast.
great deck though, i look forward to playing against it.

If you ever play out of modern swap mortar pod for http://www.mtgvault.com/card/goblin-bombardment/C13/ same cost to play, no need to equip.
also just in case you didn't notice Chandra's phoenix will only trigger with fling. i recommend switching it out for http://www.mtgvault.com/card/nova-chaser/LRW/ since you have all these elementals

i do however love the swing and fling idea

also similar card to fling http://www.mtgvault.com/card/souls-fire/ALA/

again the problem with forge master is that he can accidentally be pulled out by poly instead of blightsteel.

Shape anew's problem is the amount of artifacts, chances are it wont be blight steel, and wing splicer and stormtide can pop out from poly instead of blightsteel and stormtide makes blightsteel unable to attack. the shackles might be fun tho, ha ha your creatures now my blightsteel lol.
