Deck Description

[[[This is my White lifegain deck until rotation.

It was created to disrupt most aggro and burn decks that are played in the meta and my area to very good effect. Its biggest threat is Stormbreath dragon, which is why I added Rapid Hybridization.

Any suggestions?

[UPDATE]: Thanks for all your suggestions, comments, likes and views. The deck is still doing very well, but in the upcoming weeks I'm going to see if I can shift it into some Abzan colours. The new Sorin looks alright with his +1 Lifelink and I can use all sorts of cards for that pesky red dragon. ]]] - PRE- ROTATION DESCRIPTION

This is the new version of the lifegain deck, splashing black this time instead of blue. Still thinking to add card draw, from sign in blood. Thinking about 2 Athreos sideboard; can help against control boardwipes. *EDIT* ADDED

WOE isn't as good as cards such as pride guardian or glow moth.

what about adding in thassa to help vs dragon? i think 4 "anthems" is a bit to much. especially when your not flooding the board.i might think about switching the obelisk and the hall out for 2 archangel of thune.

if you have a miniute could you check out my standard deck? thanks and take care!

I liked your deck. It's definitely something to fear. What do you intend to do when rotation comes?

Archangel of Thune might be good... :3

Good deck but aren't there mono colour scrylands?

Not in standard, there are only dual colored scrylands in standard. New Benalia I think is one in a modern legal set. :)

1. I've tested Brimaz a lot and he is rather lackluster in standard. The reason why he is used in modern is because that's a low drop format and the 4 toughness gives it durability from lightning bolt. If you can, find a better replacement for it.

2. Splashing blue for ephara doesn't seem all that great. And you only run 1 so the chances of you reaping benefits from her effect is unlikely. I would splash either red for something like Iroas, God of Victory or black for Obzedat - who is probably the most powerful creature in Standard before he rotates out - which gives you access to Read the Bones, Hero's Downfall, etc.

3. Wall of Essence seems like a mediocre card. Any card that offers your opponent to interact tends to backfire or provide minimal advantage. That's why Athreos never lived up to the hype.

4. You may consider sticking with one color and adding in a lot of auras. Divine favor and ethereal armor are fantastic for this sort of deck. I've seen a deck built around chalice of life as well, which your deck can abuse in conjunction with a late game control card like Obzedat!

5. Someone recommended Archangel of Thune. For me, the card is a bit slow and not impactful unless you stick her in a control deck. Like you said, Stormbreath is a big problem. Splashing black for Obzedat - who outraces even Hellkite and Stormbreath - and downfall for these bigger RG threats could improve the deck.

I see what you mean with Brimaz but at the moment he is white's best 3 drop in standard. I will probably go into black and a bit of green (Abzan wedge) in the upcoming weeks to see what I can do there. The new Sorin looks good ;)

Yes I think Sorin would work well in this lifegain deck. However, I still stand by the fact that Brimaz is not very good. That flashy token effect of his is very rarely impactful and you start realizing you wish you used a more impactful 4 or 5 mana card. I would sell him before his price drops. You are better off using Archangel of Thune, though I dislike her in this build as well. Try to find some smaller aggro drops (like soldier of the pantheon) to fit your deck or find something with lifegain synergies.

Nice deck man +1 from me. Once rotation happens which is just around the corner, I suggest running Ainok Bond-Kin, He will have excellent synergy with Ajani giving all your creatures with +1/+1 counters First Strike. As well as Wingmate Roc as a 1 or 2 of in the deck, Wingmate Roc will be especially usefully when you have a bunch of tokens out to gain life from each attacker.
Sorry to anyone who doesn't scope out the spoilers and likes to be surprised.
In addition I would really appreciate some feed back on this one I came up with the other day.

I love your ideas man, I love the OP deck but I made a monowhite version could you take a look?

http://www.mtgvault.com/humstuckmtg/decks/standard-white/ (trying to be ready for post rotation)

I would probably replace Kinsbaile Skirmisher for Anok. I like Wingmate Roc but I don't know what I could cut for it.

I wish I could help you with your green modern deck but I never played modern :( So Im not sure what is good or not.

I've checked both your decks and liked what I saw. I think the new spoiled cards will help this deck a lot, now that I'm thinking of moving it into Abzan colours: Abzan battle priest, siege rhino, etc!

I would take out the hall and obelisk for a couple archangel of thunes. Also you have red lands and in this deck, Iroas would be infinitely better than Ephara. Finally, might look into Silence. In a deck like this, Silence is super good to draw out counter spells they could have saved for something else, or preemptively end the agro deck's turn before they can play their hasty creature.

Also, Elspeth is unnecessary. I would run two stead fasts and keep it at that. Maybe that could be the fodder for Silence?
