Deck Description

GB beat down pretty much. Very similar set up to Mono Block Devotion decks but a bit heavier on the aggressive side. Between both of my best friends, one has been talking about "The Rock" since his days of playing magic when he was a kid, the other has been contemplating on making a green/black deck, so I took the liberty of setting up this baby. I'm confident in it and on paper it looks good but we all know how that goes: Decks need to be tweaked and play tested.

How to Play

Similar to Mono Black Devotion except you don't have the devotion life drain that you'd get from Gray Merchant. Still all in all a very aggressive deck. Lotleth Troll can get ridiculous if your opponent decides not to deal with him but you have ways of protecting him with Thoughtseize and/or Abrupt Decay should he get hit with Detention Sphere. I picked Lifebane Zombie over Dreg Mangler because he lets you look at your opponents hand and possibly get rid of a creature. Dreg Mangler is very aggressive but he doesn't give you the value of information and strategy that Lifebane does. Varolz was a tossup for me but I decided to put him in because if you can get him out with Lotleth Troll the possibilities are epic. Discard Desecration Demon to pump up Lotleth Troll, then scavenge him and your opponent is in some trouble. The sideboard was tricky but I think I did a good job. If you're going against control you don't need as many kill spells so you can board in Erebos, Duress, Pithing Needle, and probably Golgari Charm to counter a Supreme Verdict. Aggro decks you'll obviously board in more spot removal since you'll have more targets to hit.
