Deck discussion for The Day of Sacrifice

Interesting choice of a commander! He seems a bit expensive to cast for a 5/5, and likely won't get to be put in and out repeatedly to respawn all of his kobolds, but that is probably okay because you do have the spawning of sacrifice-able things elsewhere. However, the one thing I noticed is that you don't have any reeeeeeally reliable ways to spawn a lot of tokens to sacrifice, or just stuff in general to sacrifice.

You would benefit greatly from some tutors, especially easy because you have black, so things like Diabolic Tutor, Demonic Tutor, Increasing Ambition, etc, will allow you to get your better spawners out, one of which I know will be critical for you is Mycoloth, as he seems to be one of your more useful and reliable spawners as he spawns every turn. So, you want to make sure he has some stuff to eat, so perhaps a turn after you put your commander in and just have Mycoloth roll in and eat up everything and get a ton of tokens every turn.

You have a number of things to sacrifice with, including your general, but aside from giving you the colors you desire for the build and the.. like... five tokens, he might not be all that useful with what you have right now. He is vulnerable to a number of spells, even if they might not be able to easily burn him, exiles and 'destroy creatures' will get him. One thing you might want to consider adding aside from tutors are a couple artifacts or such that can give him hexproof or invincibility. Swiftfoot boots is popular, but another I enjoy is General's Kabuto. Though the Kabuto is more shroud than hexproof, meaning you can't use your own spells on him, it'll allow him to attack without worry about being killed, which means you can pump him up and then obliterate your opponents.

One other thing I notice is that you have a /lot/ of non-basic lands, a lot of which are probably not that useful to you in the long run. What I consider is trimming anything not-crucial and adding more basic lands, because one thing a lot of people /will/ use are cards that wipe non-basic lands. This means you could lose a huge portion of your mana-base really easily.

Granted, the non-basic lands are fancier and more versatile. You can add something like Planar Portal to search out cards (including any lands) and keep your manabase going. Its something to consider at least.

I have a sacrifice deck (like you), that I have done a lot of work to optimize. It can be seen here, so maybe you can get a few ideas!

Another deck I just built can show a few things you might consider as well, as it is not mono-black and can give a better idea of how to build a really versatile EDH deck, as it has infinite combos for basically everything; damage, draw, opponent death-draw, board wipes, creature killing, token spawning, etc.

Hope I helped. :)
