You use his ability with Nether Void, you really need that card to do lots of cool stuff for the deck. But you stack Mishra's trigger then the Nether Void's. You don't pay the 3 and it gets countered, then you get it from your grave for free.
The point is your going to be playing cheaper spells that are "uncounterable" in a sense. While all your opponents have to pay more to keep their spell hitting.

I was thinking about the Angels for the Elderscale too, I was scanning the comments to see if anyone brought it up yet.
Im not sure if you're familiar with the "Nightmare Stack."
Lets say you just played Angel of Serenity and the opponent has no response, she enters and you exile the creatures, in response to the exile trigger you cloudshift her. So her exile ability is already on the stack but what happens first is her leaving the battlefield, then her exile.
So to put it simply you permanently exile 3 creatures, and then exile 3 new creatures underneath her.
I used to run that combo with fiend hunter.
I love flicker decks, my first FNM deck was a flicker with venser, cloudshift, resto, and stonehorn dignitary. Venser's emblem being the win-con. Overall I love the deck and what you're trying to do with it.

How I've seen Rafiq decks play is they cast him and already have multiple Swords on the field. Equip the Swords then Lightning Greaves for haste and added shroud, then swing for kill. Stoneforge Mystic belongs in this deck. I feel like there may be some more equipments that can be put in here, I'm not entirely sure since I have only made one EDH and its blue/white so I sit there and watch stuff happen. Definitely looks promising, Rafiq is very scary.

Wow, this deck looks amazing. I havent seen an overwhelmingly good mono black EDH yet, but this looks pretty good. I think it would be fun to go against it. Love the synergy and the creature return.

Looks very promising. I had a run in with a turbo fog deck before and it was so annoying, but it worked. Should be interesting to see it with Tamiyo. Blunt the Assault is another good combat damage stopping card.

You may not want to run all four Drogskol Reavers just because of its mana cost but thats all preference. The Captains are a definite must and the Mindshriekers have saved my life on more than one occasion. I guess the only way to get a good feel for the deck is to test play it, try taking out different cards for other ones. And maybe play with proxy cards, if your opponent is ok with it. Thats always a good way to see what cards you like and dont like, just take some extra land cards or some other cards you dont like and then write the card name and stats on it over the land. Thats what a proxy cards is.

I agree completely with Kuvetd. I really love using Midnight Haunting in my spirit deck because you can play it on the opponents end step then you have two spirits ready to attack your turn. Call to the Kindred would be another great addition I feel, if you draw a Reaver in one of the the five cards you can play for free. And you get to do that everytime its your upkeep.

Wow that's amazing. I think its awesome how you put that much time into the story of your deck. I could imagine it all in my head. Its great how reading can really open up the mind. Really incredible. And the deck itself looks great, seems pretty scary to go up against. Mind looking at my Angel/Human deck, I feel like mine and yours could have a nice climactic battle.

Add Diergraf Captains, Gravecrawler, and Rooftop Storm. You sac Gravecrawler ,then deal damage to opponent because of Diergraf's ability. Then cast Gravecrawler from graveyard for free with Rooftop Storm. Repeat until opponent(s) is dead, you win.
