Deck Description

Deck inspired by Gavin Verhey's Chimera deck. Can be seen here -

I made a couple of land alterations and made up a sideboard, along with throwing one Thassa into the mix as I quite like the constant scrying ability and I can get my massive fathom mage through as well.

The main players for the combo are Archangel of Thune, Horizon Chimera and Fathom Mage.

With all 3 on the field, you draw for turn, Horizon Chimera Triggers, you gain 1 life, Archangel of Thune Triggers, you put a +1/+1 counter on all creatures, Fathom Mage triggers, you draw a card, then rinse and repeat as many times is necessary every turn. You can stop whenever you like as per Fathom Mage's ability states "may".

Deck discussion for Chimera Combo Antics - FINAL -

I was talking about the same combo with a friend the other day! Seems reeeally funny if you can pull it off. And also instantly game winning haha. Prophet of kruphix makes it easy to pump them all out quickly too. This might be really fun at fnm

I realised last night I need to sideboard in about 2 psychic spirals. Suggestions on what to replace?

I would have to agree with radikar and say 2 omenspeakers

Adjusted the deck after a few plays. See what you think now.

Also see what you think of my mono red deck. It's pretty damn fast.

Couldnt have done it better myself. Good amount of scry stuff to ensure the combo. :)

Yeah threw in some Planeswalker support and one psychic spiral and took out the fleecemanes for counterspells to protect the combo. I found that as long as I get fathom mage first, I flash in Horizon Chimera end of opponent's turn and then play archangel and the combo activates as soon as it hits the board.

Seems really good! I really like that you've got Zegana in there. More card drawing to enable the combo. In your playtesting of the deck, has Prophet of Kruphix been valuable enough to mainboard? I have it sideboarded in my version of the trio:

http://www.mtgvault.com/radikar/decks/the-bigger-the-figure/

I have Prophet in sideboard in case she turns out to be playable, along with the Sylvan Caryatid. I focused more on trying to preserve the combo and control the opponent, seeing as if my opponent gets rid of one of the three, it'll just ruin the fun.

As for what to sideboard out for the Spirals, that's a tough decision. My guess would be either the Omenspeakers or one of the Elvish Mystic and one of the Caryatid, but I doubt even those are good choices. Maybe two Fleecemace Lions?
