You look like a good player and was wondering if you could check my decks and offer advice.

Thanks, Blizard, for the nice comment :D I wouldn´t say that I´m the best at this game, but I will try to help you as far as my capabilities go :)

I have exactly nil experience with building these kinds of elf decks, I used to play my friends aggro elves when they wanted me to come to FNM for Standard, but never built one of them myself as far as I can remember. DedWards is good with this breed of them, he's done them for good deal of time, and if you want them in this vein he'd be a much better person to ask.

The way I've played Elves in Legacy is using Heritage Druid with Nettle Sentinel, and Glimpse of Nature/Beck // Call. It also supports Vengevines and Anger via Intuition, and a playset of Fauna Shaman.

Normally I'd also suggest asking Wumps about this kind of thing, but the poor guy's been so entrenched in pre-wedding stuff that he hasn't been on in something like a month =/

I figured as much, same reason I don't bother asking half of my old group. I'm pretty muchthe only single person amongst happily engaged couples :|

Hey now you two, don´t be sad. Getting married doesn´t mean the end of you playing MTG. I pitched the idea for my wife about 3 years ago, and she wanted to be a part of it. Although she doesn´t play anymore, she still gives the okay for me to head on FNM.

What I´m trying to say is, if your partner does not allow you, to be you, then I hope that person will be able to grind some of the edges off. That´s what being in a relationship is all about. Compromise, but also the space where the two of you can be yourselves.

A good advice for the road; if your partner is cold (not emotion-wise) or freezing, don´t *ask* if they want a blanket, just give it to them and wrap it around them. It shows you are determined and considerate, and just maybe you´ll get lucky enough to have someone do that to you too.
Oh, and Choco. Hot Choco, then it´s a sealed deal =)

Yeah, Arty's wife doesn't play, but is cool about him playing. And Allie (Fiancé de Wumps) actually does play...and has some pretty damn good decks too!

I figure one of these days I'll meet a girl who's cool about Mtg, but until then...meh =P

None of my friends fiances have a problem with Magic quite luckily, just they have so much wedding planning they disappear from the world for periods of time.

I'm quite alright being single, I'm too cynical to be getting engaged before finishing college.

I blame the medium of text for that. Without a voice to put behind a name, it is often quite hard to place those who speak with thought not only to what they say, but how they say it. Also, the odd combination of pop culture references the internet provides gives a certain ambiguity to ones age I'd think.

And to the second sentence, I can only think of a line from My Big Fat Greek Wedding; It's okay Nico, you have plenty of time.

I don´t know how young/old you are, surewhynot, but intelligence-wise, I´d put you at about 30~ish? and JensDagon; Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth.
I think I remember a Internet meme which went a bit like this:
"Oh I feel young although I´m 30, but then I hang out with 20-year old´s and stop and think; 'shit... I´m thirty' "

My cousin, when she was in 5th. grade, she spoke of even younger girls, who used make-up and stuff, trying to grow up as fast as they could.

Dammit, I miss being a kid - The Worlds perspective was so much easier and simplistic. You didn´t need to worry about stuff like car-loans or Vet-bills. And when summertime came 'round the grassy fields where yours to explore, or looking for funny stones in the abandoned quarry.

Trust me, Jens. Enjoy it. Even the sour stuff.

Oh, I definitely do enjoy it. I'm damn gorgeous.

I always thought stuff like that is ridiculous, in fifth grade your concern should be not getting cooties.

Mmmm, summertime shenanigans, the greatest of childhood joys.

There's some sour stuff I just can't enjoy, like people shoving religion down my throat at every corner because I don't go to a church, but the good parts are quite good.

Yeah I know what you mean (sorry the late answer). At first I could get quite angry at those people, but later on I learned to pity them instead.
"God is in all things !"

me, quoting the late George Carlin: "So you *actually* believe there´s an *invisible* man... Living in the *sky*, watching *everything* you do. And he has a list.. of 10 things he does not want you to do!! Or else he has a special place where you will go in eternal pain and suffering, fire and smoke, burning and anguish... But he *loves* you...?"

Something got f***ed up along the way of being a clergy.

Even the late, and short, Napoleon said it;
"Imagination rules the world"

and another quote to substantiate;
"Religious wars are fought over who has the best imaginary friend..."

Holy Sh*t...!

True, surewhynot, I can relate - not by me being a believer, though. I beli... well, a term I won´t use, I have an idea of what goes on and it´s quite simple: Recycling. Allow me to explain;
When we close our eyes for the last sleep, my conviction is, that your body will give itself back to nature via insects and other various scavengers, or if some parts go to a nearby flower/tree/bush/grass then our deaths´ are *never* meaningless, that´s my "religion", surewhynot, and yes - in troubled times it does offer comfort, just as you put it. Thanks, man =)

Back to Elves... what do you guys think of it so far?

And I was pondering of adding 4 x Safewright Quest´s for more consistently getting either Dryad or Overgrown faster. Go? No go?

I wouldn't go with it, it'd be mana ramp, in a deck that plays elves.

You´re quite right. The deck is fast enough without them =D I just wish this damned cold would go away, so I can properly test it at my shop. All I´ve done so far is solo-mtg, and that´s not very challenging, haha

I don't play Legacy, so I can't help much here. That being said, I have some experience with some of the cards in here. Heritage Druid, for example, allows for immediate use of elves with summoning sickness, so I run it main board. Harbinger is nice, but between costing 3 mana and only putting the card on top of your library, I've found it better to leave it out, but that could also be because I don't NEED specific cards in my elf decks. Also, Green Sun does the job better. If you do choose to leave the Harbingers out, I'd suggest bumping Ezuri to 4x. I've come to keep 3 Elvish Champion in my elf decks' sideboards, works wonders against decks that run forests. Lastly, I'd only run 1 Arbor Dryad as it suffers from summoning sickness and is not an elf.

As for the cards you want to try add (Vengevine, Fauna Shaman, Lotus Cobra and Evolving Wilds), all I can say is to test them and see what works for you. Personally I'd avoid anything that's not an elf, regardless of how good the card is on its own. In Fauna Shaman's case, do you really need more search than Green Sun? Lotus Cobra and Evolving Wilds don't seem to fit this deck, they're more for a dedicated landfall deck. Vengevine mite stay in your graveyard longer than you'd think. My experience with Talara's Battalion taught me that with the way I play, I wouldn't have enough creatures to cast in one turn to make Vengevine viable.

Hope that I was some help.

Thanks, man. You were a ton of help. I decided to abort the Vengevine/Fauna and I tested this as its current state. Not to sound like a douche, but it is scary fast. Yesterday I ended up with two lands in the GY, 1 Deathrite and 1 Dryad Arbor on the field - Turn 1 !
The reason for two Arbor´s are the free blocker on opponent turn 1 on the draw. Verdant Catacombs fetches it, instantly and you can chump block. If it get´s killed, then there are 1 land or 1 creature in the GY, both bonuses for Deathrite Shaman.
It was in fact you that got my eyes openws to Putrefy, so thanks a bunch !

It think I´m going to keep this way, at least until Friday and if my cold is gone by then, then I´ll test it for real =)

let's not forget that Green Sun can fetch Arbor Dryad for 0. That's turn 1, 2 lands

I havn't really posted it yet, but there's a deck I'm working on for Standard. My biggest problem is I'm leaning heavy on the one colour I'm least good at playing: Blue :/ It's a Simic deck that I'm trying to acquire cards for. So far I'm leaning towards Heroic. Prophet of Kruphix is the main reason I'm trying to build this deck. When I get around to posting the deck, I'll be sure to let you know :p

Sure, man =) I gotta warn you, though. Standard is where I know least of Magic, but I´ll give it my best

The study of your Simic colors have come up with a very interesting card; 'Plasm Capture' Since you untap almost everything, you´re good to go with a heavy-duty counterspell - It´s very blue indeed but also mean green. Countering an 'Aetherling' for example could possibly swing you the game, that is, if you include a high mana spell/creature to play for all that mana-dough =)

'Master Biomancer' may help it from not being killed so easily

I've not got a guaranteed way of getting the Prophet out (yet), so Plasm is a bit iffy to me at the moment. I'm in the process of convincing my friend to part with his Master Biomancers, once I get them, I'll see where I go from there.
