You've got to have Shirei as the commander for this deck ! You would be able to tutor a demon per turn with Shirei on board ! Great deck though mate - maybe consider adding in Immortal Servitude to bring back loads of the Apostles at once ?

Not if you're only two CMC card in hand is something like Armed//Dangerous - it can set up for turn three or otherwise be looted later on.
Yes you want to turn 1 faithless looting into turn 2 electromancer, but that exact play will only happen in around 1 in four hands, so you need alternatives - Ie either gates or up the izzet charms (for looting).

I found the same - i run 4 steam vents, 4 sulfur falls, 4 guildgates and 2 desolate lighthouse in my list and haven't had any problems since switching that :) http://www.mtgvault.com/buzzgsc/decks/nivix-rocket-ru/

I'd keep both to be honest - when you're reducing casting cost withe the electromancer you need lands to have U or R available to ensure everything for the combo can be cast without fail - I'd run 4 steam vents and 4 guildgates

Fluxcharger takes better advantage of spells like Armed//Dangerous - works very well late game :)

Prime Speaker Zegana would be absolutely ideal in here, especially in Bant colours - provides card draw and a significant body too :)

Love the deck mate - looks a real solid build for post-rotation ! The one thing I would say is that the Guttersnipe does disrupt tempo, especially if you can't flashback spells anymore when the likes of Faithless Looting/Artful Dodge roll out. Fluxcharger has been incredibly powerful in testing and has turned games on their heads in a single swing.

Check out my current build here http://www.mtgvault.com/buzzgsc/decks/nivix-rocket-ru/
Gonna put up my post-rotation build in the next few days :)

Oracle text for both changed Eater of Day's effect text to 'enter the battlefield' :)

Take out Nixathid - it's effect is not an 'enter the battlefield' but a change in how the creature forms upon entering so doesn't trigger upon entry but after the spell resolves. Therefore you would still have to select an opponent and it would (more than likely) die due to it's ability. Instead I would run Avatar of Discord as a three drop creature that works well with Torpor Orb.

In terms of tutoring have a look at transmute effects like Shred Memory :)

Here's my build of the same idea - http://www.mtgvault.com/buzzgsc/decks/monoblack-torporeater-b/

Love this deck - recently made my own Skullbriar EDH build, but never considered cards like Death's Presence and devour cards - http://www.mtgvault.com/buzzgsc/decks/skullbriar-cracking-skulls-edh/

One big question - Where is Varolz, the Scar-Striped !??!?! Seeing as you're not running a reanimation package, he is simply insane in this deck as you can just scavenge away the creatures filling up your yard for counters on Skullbriar ! Some other little suggestions would be cards like Eternal Witness and some more removal cards to protect and restore your game plan, and most definitely Vigor (seriously just check it out - insane for this deck). Great build though mate :)

Nice deck man, i run a very similar modern deck so please check it out - For me, Grimoire Thief doesn't do much for me, and Silvergill Adepts are an essential two-drop for card draw! Sygg (and minus one Sovereign) should probably go sideboard and add in some Cursecatchers for early control.

Don't use Aquitect's Will, yes they're useful for merfolk but Spreading Seas main deck can help slow down dual lands from changing them into just islands (so if you put it on a dual land that is a swamp/mountain, Seas makes it only produce blue mana). Cryptic Commands are a little slow in modern, especially when you're playing Mutavaults which don't produce blue, cheek out spells like Delay, Remand or Vapor Snag is awesome too :)

Basically you use it to end the turn while the negative abilities are still on the stack, removing them completely. So when Leveller comes into play, by activating the Sundial as his enter the battlefield trigger activates you stop it from resolving

Awesome deck man, I'm a big fan of Torpor Orb and I have my own mono-black version of this but never thought of going into green - Kudos ! Definitely consider Wormfang Manta for your deck (unless you're sticking to Modern?)

Check out mine :)

Really like the build man - for me I would go for Abundant Growth over Farseek in this build to reduce the negative side of drawing into a Guildgate which doesn't help cast cards (e.g. drawing a Rakdos Guildgate).

Really like Plasm Capture on sideboard, great call. Would maybe think about a Chromatic Lantern or two as a solid 3 drop that ramps up mana ?

The issue with the Wurm is that when you start Scavenging it loses power, so it's slightly underpowered in this build. The addition of white would make this deck awesome, especially for Smiters as you said, Unburial Rites and even Selesnya Charm (for sideboard), and Sigarda too ! Seriously man its a great build, and will take green and black in a different direction when the likes of Geralf's Messenger and Thragtusk (hopefully) cycle out!

Great start man but... FORCE OF WILL DUDE !!!! Drop the Echoing Truths and the Spell Pierces, and add in Force of Wills, and add in a set of Aether Vials too (drop an Island, a Daze, a Cus and a Dismember)! Consider some a Wasteland or Tectonic Edge or two for land control too, or Mutavaults which go incredibly in tribal decks.

I have my own modern merfolk build here :) http://www.mtgvault.com/buzzgsc/decks/modern-merfolk-v20-uw/

Great deck man ! Keep this build, it will definitely see some construed play when Innistrad cycles out!

For me I would definitely change out the Boneyard Wurm for Gravecrawler, or splash white and add in Doomed Travellers in the same slot and perhaps an Unburial Rites for the creature you don't want to lose from Grisly Salvage?

Nice deck - runechanter's pike is up there with the most underestimated card in standard right now so kudos !

One thing I would recommend for this deck would be Thought Scour - It mills you to put spells into your graveyard for the pike (or provides flashback for the Snapcaster) and you draw a card to replace it :)
