Deck Description

Someone once told me that Boros Commander was a joke deck. Before my hiatus from MTG, I set out to find a deck to mock that person with. Before I left, I found Kalemne. For a while I thought she was a joke Commander, like that person; I tried a few decks, but never finished a Boros deck. So....now that I'm back, I've had an epiphany. Not only can I make a Kalemne Boros deck, I CAN MAKE A TRIBAL MEME DECK THAT WORKS. So, to everyone who ever said that Boros was bad, to every person who laughed at tribal and said, "I'd rather play a real deck," and too every person who assumed Giants couldn't be a deck........This is Giant-Mom, and to her, Size Matters. Enjoy!

How to Play

I mean.....we're playing Boros Giants, what do you expect? Tribal decks are pretty straightforward. Play your tribe, use your mass of that Tribe to trampled someone. Now, unlike Merfolk with their weird blue trickery, or zombies with bodies, Giants are pretty much that. Big, expensive, and angry. Now the good news is that in EDH/Commander, these big brutes are rather decent. The bad news is that lots of infinite combo tomfoolery also kind of exists, and you have pretty much no answers to it. Thankfully, you do make up for it by being filled with fat creatures and a plethora of ways to cheapen them up. Urza's Incubrok- I mean Incubator, Herald's Horn,Stinkdrinker Daredevil, and a few mana-ramping artifacts help a long way or you. Then, cards like Door of Destines, Vanquisher's Banner, and Adaptive Automaton help make our Giants even more angry and big. Since it could take a bit to get a few Giants up and at'em, we've stocked up on our board wipes to help punish token decks and horde decks, like Goblins and the aforementioned Zombies.

Now the big star of the deck, Kalemne, is THE MOST IMPORTANT CREATURE. Why else are we playing her after all? Kalemne is a devastating threat, being a 4 mana double striker THAT GETS BIGGER EVERY TIME WE PLAY ANYTHING 5 OR MORE MANA. Think that through. After 7 big mana drops, with just one buff, she can one-shot someone with Rogue's Passage. She's a terror in combat, and since she is also a a Giant, gains all our sexy tribal benefits. Oh yeah, and most of our giants cost 5 or more. So dropping her first and continuing to drop Giants just makes it that much harder for someone to deal with her. And the best part? Ever since my hiatus, MTG gained one of the absolute dumbest artifacts in the game with her. The helm of the Host. What's better than one Kalemne with a bunch of boosts? Why not more of her? Who needs infinite combos when Giant-Mom and her 2 sisters at 8/8 can unleash an immense 48 damage in one swing? When you play Boros, you don't hide your gameplan because you don't need some complicated storm combo or cheap life drain loop. You take your hits as they come, give them back even harder, and win big.
