okay. here's the story with this one. its several years ago and RTR just came out i believe. I've never played magic before. a friend gives me a box of his cards and says he wants me to help him build a deck since I've been known to build yu-gi-oh decks at the time and he thinks maybe i can build magic.so after several hours of beating my head against a wall i came up with roughly this deck list: http://www.mtgvault.com/clawzizking/decks/riptide-after-two-years/the deck was named jokingly riptide and the card griptide which i often used. in the end he ends up deciding he doesn't like the deck since its not in his colors so he gives it to me.as the years have gone by I've just swapped out cards as i go keeping this as a casual deck. its kind of evolved with me through the years to the deck list you see above.its not the best deck, not the worst either by any means, but it gets the job done and still to this day gives my friends fits.
play spirits. use drogskul to give them hexproof. use cackling counterpart targeting captain in response to kill spells.most of the deck is just anthems so even the small 1/1s become serious issues later in the game.

This is a really awesome deck! You should consider putting Coat of Arms in it.

Thanks. And I thought about coat of arms and door of Destiny. Unfortunately they are a little high on mana cost and I have 11+ anthems. I will however toy about with them. Thanks for the suggestions.

Just realized I never had a chance to reply to this. Not a bad deck. I used to have some counter spells in here and a playset of feeling of dread but I've since dropped them for more spirits since I felt the deck didn't really need them. In most games I apply enough pressure to survive until I hit cyclonic rift at which nothing my opponentbhas in play really matters anymore. I definitely like your build though.

This is very cool! I have a similar experience with my own W/U flying deck. I was bored one day, so I sifted through some cards I had sitting around, and found a lot of flying creatures. I remembered some of my earliest games of magic, where flying creatures always seemed the coolest to me. So I decided to make a deck out of it, and over time, it evolved to be pretty good. Like your deck, my deck uses some spirits as well, but they are not so much of the focus, but hey, its always neat to see differing approaches to things. Would you like to check out my deck?
