Deck Description

Control is, in my opinion, one of the most important aspects of a deck. So that's why I made this deck. It focuses on drawing cards (so you can get the cards you want + gives you more options) and turning the opponents strength against them through shapeshifters, steals, counters, and bounces. This deck, in theory, will work particularly well against creature-based decks (for reasons above).

Thank you to Jessie and s0rinmark0v for the inspiration needed to build this deck.

How to Play

Stall early game with Sage Owl and Rootwater Thief (so long as it doesn't die). Counterspell immediate threats or put Counterspell onto Koha, Minamo Historian for spamming.

Late game, turn the opponents strength against them through shapeshifters, and Control Magic. Confiscate any scary artifacts or creatures, until you can get Stormtide Leviathan into play, at which point, it's all over.

You can also win by wheedling down their health with your flying and unblockable creatures (Deepchannel Mentor and Archetype of Imagination help with this), or hit them in one massive wave after using Aetherize.

Protect yourself and your creatures with Counterspell, Aetherize, Polymorphist's Jest and Ring of Evos Isle.

In the sideboard:
-Hydroblast and Controlled Instincts- Locks down green and red creatures
-Chameleon Spirit- Use against mono-colored creature decks
-Bident of Thassa- More card draw and control
-Venser's Journal- For life gain and no max hand size
-Dismiss Into Dream- For mass removal (use with Aetherize or Polymorphist's Jest)
-Dissipation Field- For defense against creatures
-Soul of Ravnica and Lorthos, the Tidemaker- Alternate big creatures
-Aqueous Form- For scry and more unblockable creatures
-Reminisce- To counter mill decks

Deck discussion for Budget: Mind Games

Yep, this deck is very much on the right track!!!
It's got all the stuff that blue control magic players love to play!
Powerful creatures, spells that counter/control the boards, and cards that keep you drawing cards that way you don't run out of cards to use.

It's hard to get views on your deck, on Magic Vault.
Best way I found, is go find decks you like, and comment on them. And hope the person's deck that you comment on returns the favor and looks at a few of your decks.

I agree with Jessie about the deck. It is well balanced.

You still want me to create the counterspell-based deck for you?

The budget is what you think it is.
I say 20$ is budget. Others say that 50$ is budget. Some say that 100$ is budget.
Your deck, your rules, your budget.
