Deck Description

This is a home brew deck for casual play.

I wanted to build a Kraken/Leviathan deck but it seemed too either be too weak or the CMC of the spells were too high. I think I found a nice balance by adding in green for some fogs and land grabs. It speeds the deck up and keeps you safe until the big guys come out.

Disregard the sideboard for now. I am using it for ideas. I am also trying to keep this deck cost efficient.

How to Play

Step 1:
Use prevent damage, Remand's and Echoing Truth's to defend yourself early game.

Step 2:
Ideally with any amount of luck you'll pull one of the 4 cultivates within the first few turns, but this deck isn't entirely reliant on that. I have played many games that didn't get Cultivate's and I still won by following Step 1.

Step 3:
Cast a Ætherplasm's by turn 4 to hopefully scare off ground attackers, or use the Whelming Wave's to clear the battlefield.

Step 4:
If you need to use an elixir go ahead.

Step 5+:
After 5 to 6 turns you should have returned creatures and prevented enough damage to have the other player still scrounging to cast creatures.

Step 5+:
Play a 7th land and use a Scourge of Fleets to clear the opponents battlefield again, or wait and use Stormtide Leviathan and then Scourge of Fleets, it's all situational.

Step 6+: Then use Whelming Wave's, prevent damage's, and Echoing truths at will while attacking with Stormtide Leviathan. If Stormtide is targeted, use Echoing Truth on it to return it to your hand. You can also do this to the 1, 2, or 3 Scourge of Fleet's in play too so you can cast them every subsequent turn.

The game should be on lock down now so long as you can survive the first 4 or 5 turns without taking too much damage.

That's pretty much it. Very straight forward casual deck.

Deck discussion for Krakens and Leviathans

Hi!
I think you could use less Elixirs and Whelming Waves. Waves don't come in handy too often, and usually 1 or 2 is fine- plus you have the Scourge of fleets (source: i've played it). Elixir of Immortality isn't a card you should be spending a lot of deck slots on, and you really only need one to "go infinite".

I can see why you want to use Aetherplasm, but it's actually really not that good. Maybe you could replace it with maybe 3 or 4 See the Unwritten? even though it's 6-mana you can get up to 2 fatties onto the battlefield if you have ferocious active. If you don't, well you get a fatty for 6 mana.

I would also play more islands and less forests. Take out Winds of Qal sisma (if you want keep maybe 1 or 2) because you really don't need a 2-mana fog, since you already have the og in the deck. You honestly don't need that many fogs in the deck.

Echoing truth is an okay card and I would play only 2-3 copies of it. I get the double usage property but tbh it's not something I would want to 4-of.

If you can get it, Quest for Ula's Temple is a great tribal card for Leviathans, Krakens, and Octopuses. It also provides a way to cheat out your guys if you just wait 3 turns. This might be better than See the Unwritten, but having both could be good. This means you have to play more creatures to be consistent, however. Inkwell Leviathan is a great card since it's basically untouchable. Simic Skyswallower is good too, since it also has flying.

So maybe:
-2 Elixirs
-2-3 whelming waves
-4 Aetherplasm
-2 Winds of qal sisma
-2 echoing truth

Fill those slots up with what you want, I would personally use some of the cards I suggested.
Kiora (crashing wave) is great if they can't remove her soon enough, Inkwell Leviathan is good too, Shipbreaker Kraken seems good too.
I like the deck idea, and tried making one but never got around to finishing it. Good luck on games if you ever play with it!

Thank you very much for the feedback and suggestions. I am going to update the deck on untap and see how it plays solo. Your time is much appreciated! :)

I wonder if Summoning Trap would be better than See the Unwritten. It's an instant and could be cast for 0 if a creature spell i cast is countered. I'll try that one first (because I own a full set).

No problem. Summoning Trap is a good card. I think if you don't have See the Unwritten, then you could play it as a replacement. Even though it might not have the ferocious 2nd creature bonus (which might be hard to get anyways), it's also an instant, which is good if you can flash in a fatty end of turn.
