Too many 1x and 2x cards for my liking.
I do however like the abuse of Doubling Season to get more +1/+1 counters from graft :P

Do you mean cheeper money wise?

I prefer the top, so I say go with them. (I already got a set of them when they came out)

Too bad that this is a black green deck, one creature I find works nicely with persist creatures is Juniper Order Ranger.

Nice build. Definitely add more Alpha Status and I suggest looking into Door of Destinies to use instead of Coat of Arms (I prefer it). Also take a look at Swarm Yard, it's an awesome land for an insect deck.

the closest thing I can think of that resembles pizza is the card "The Cheese Stands Alone".

Awsome. I love the Ninja Turtles. This deck probably won't work too well, but it's awesomly themed.

I want to suggest adding Door of Destinies instead of Coat of Arms, but the only non token Squirrels in this deck are Squirrel Mob, so it won't work.

Like you said, simple.
I'd personally take out the Coat of Arms and add 2 more Door of Destinies.

I fail to see the use of Rootbound Crag, or am I just blind :P
Other than that, I like what you're trying to do.

Interesting design.
You think of adding some Swarmyards?

Sorry, no Ideas for the Brain Bug... yet.

In the future remember to change the "Work in Progress" on the top rite to "Finished Deck" so that the deck will appear on the front page. That way people will comment on the deck.

All you need to do is make sure you got at least one card in your own graveyard before playing Planar Void. I try not play Planar Void untill I got at least 5 cards in my grave. And if I'm rite, if I play more than one Mist of Stagnation, I get to untap for each.

You could use Junktroller to put the sacrificed creatures on the bottom of your library.
If you ever add blue, add Fabricate. It'll allow you to search for the artifact you need when you need it :)

Interesting that you chose to use blue for your first deck, I find that colour the most difficult to use.
Although you're currently limited in your selection of cards, I suggest using more than 1x and 2x of the cards as the deck is inconsistent. If you up the main cards to 3x and 4x and cut out any filler cards and / or unnecessary cards, then the deck will work better. Because of the 1x and 2x of cards, I can't tell what you're trying to achieve with this deck so I can't help.
You could use Expedition Map to search for Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle.

Nicely themed deck, but the Alra "blades" (the creatures) don't work well in 5 colours - I have tried, it really doesn't.

The rules state that if a land is of a basic land type (eg Island) it can produce mana of that type (eg blue mana). So the Omen turning all my lands into all basic land types so I can produce any of the 5 colours of mana. If you ever need help with rules on a specific case go to http://gatherer.wizards.com
