No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

Tribal: Soldiers
Aggro-style deck

As an extra note: This deck was first conceived, and built, shortly after the Onslaught Block came out (late 2002.) Through the years, it's been worked, reworked, tested, played, victorious, and defeated through all kinds of different opponents. My heart and soul has gone into making this deck what it is today.

How to Play

I usually change up how I play my creatures, depending on the situation.

Things that never change:
- Frontline Strategists are (almost) always put on the field face-down
- Benalish Commanders are (almost) always only suspended for 1 turn
- Commander Eesha and Catapult Master are badass
- Prevent cards are always held on to unless there's no other alternative

Deck discussion for Frontlines

An unloved casual vintage tribal deck? Did someone call my name?
*appears*
I'm a big fan of casual vintage, and if you want we can drop some comments on each others decks and hopefully draw some attention to them, but for now, here goes.
I'm assuming you rarely ever use Elspeth's -3 ability, as it doesn't really synergise with how much you are able to pump up your creatures with other global and targeted effects? Even so, her two other abilities are great.
For mana acceleration I would recommend running two Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. They are great in any mono colored deck.
I would consider running Brave the Sands instead of (or in addition to) Mobilization. It doesn't hurt to have two sources for vigilance in a deck and Brave the sands has a lower CMC, and even if you draw both of them they both have great additional abilities that buff your soldiers. It synergises particularly well with any tokens you create (doubles your chump blockers) and Commander Eesha (no, you can't attack past me, twice). Perhaps run it instead of one of your Field Marshals? No need for 3 sources of first strike.
I also like Hero of Bladehold in any knight or soldier deck, because tokens!
If you have the dosh for it, I would consider running some Swords of Fire and Ice, or at least some sort of card draw in this deck.
Those are my suggestions, do with them as you will, this is a nice deck that I really can't find any fault with.

Hi, Beowulf!

Apologies for it taking so long to get a reply to you. The website was giving me a headache in not wanting to post a response earlier... Thank you for taking the time to write out such a detailed response!

1. You're correct that I rarely use Elspeth's -3. While I'm grateful that the ability is there, I don't like using any field-wipe ability except as a last resort. This is the biggest reason I chose to replace Akroma's Vengeance with Austere Command. With the Command, I get more choices, and can make a more specific strike against the field.

2. While I own "Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx" (3 of them, to be exact,) I never considered it to be much of an asset to a mono-colored deck. This is something I will have to look into and test. Thank you for the tip!

3. Brave the Sands looked like a pretty nifty card. If I don't run it as a permanent mainboard, I will most certainly get my hands on at least one for a sideboard!

4. Hero of Bladehold looks nice, for sure, but I'm skeptical about having non-Soldier creatures in the deck. As it was, it was a difficult choice to fit in Evangel of Heliod and Hopeful Eidolon. However, I can see the logic behind it due to the lower CMC between Hero and Evangel. Perhaps with a chain combo of Gift of Immortality, it would work?

5. I remember Sword of Fire and Ice quite fondly, and honestly forgot about them until I read your comment. Will certainly have to try to get my hands on a couple of these!

Overall, I really appreciate the suggestions, and I will most certainly look into implementing some of what you said. Thank you very much! =D
