Deck Description

I drafted Zurgo at the Pre-release and knew I wanted to throw him into commander. Having indestructible and haste allows for shenanigans revolving around sweepers.

My groups meta usually involves at least one zur deck and and a pillowfort deck.

What do you guys think? Always looking for advice and suggestions.

Thank you Kindly,

Drew

How to Play

The primary strategy of the deck is to get Zurgo and boost him through enchantments and equipments. Getting out Worldslayer on him and swinging once is basically an insta-win. The other cards are there to complement Zurgo-- giving doublestrike, multiple combat phases, and other miscellaneous utility abilities. Casting the wraths during your turn leaves Zurgo unscathed.

The other spells included serve to control the battlefield through sacrificing, targeted removal, taxing attackers. Also, there are several large creatures, that can serve in an offensive capacity if Zurgo gets tucked.

Deck discussion for Zurgo Stax - EDH

Love zurgo! How well does it run?

very well. I am usually able to control the board-state until I can swing with zurgo couple with unblockable, doublestrike, and ideally 2+ attack phases. I usually try to equip Whispersilk Cloak, swiffoot boots, or lightning greaves to give him evasiveness. Then I try to get him swinging doubles-strike. If you are able to cast a wrath, then youre golden. However, Its important to note that I optimized this deck within the context of limited play-group. There's not too many different generals. Zur tends to be my biggest threat. If i cant keep him off the board I tend to secure victory

Yeah limited play groups will do that. Sounds good though. I just added a second zurgo to my standard mardu. Hoping to see him more often than my ankle shanker lol
