Deck discussion for swans of INFINITE COMBO!!!!!!!

You could just use Niv-Mizzet, the FIremind, and that way you wouldn't need to discard any cards you draw. So he enters play, next turn, you draw a card, deal 1 to Swans, draw another card, deal another 1 to Swans, draw another card, etc. Eventually you have 1 card in your deck, so you target your opponent with Niv-Mizzet, and play Lab Maniac, tap Niv-Mizzet and win.

1: doesn't matter if you discard stuff if you got the necessary cards, 2: niv-mizzet's can begin only as early as turn 7, Chain of plasma allows this to happen in turn 5, and as long as you don't discard the lab nut, yer all set. I would however suggest you getting 1-2 more lab maniacs, as else you are rather vulnerable to: 1: him being the last card (le irony) and 2: milling can fuck you up, so this can increase you chances

The Firemind is Modern. Plus, I'm not sure if Plasma Capture works. I'm not sure if the Swans' ability can resolve before you discard to copy the spell. I mean, can a single spell be interrupted by an ability, only to resolve, copy, and be interrupted again? I'd like to get a judge's ruling.

Good question, however the card does stat that it deals damage THEN the player may discard a card. Since the swan's ability is triggered when it takes damage, and Plasma Capture's damage and discard ability take place at different times, I think it may work.

the entire spell would have to go off before swam would make you draw so it would be damage discard draw swam dies. if its chain of plasma you are using to deal the damage then swan will die cause it can only take 2 damage a turn.

The swan can't die from Chain of Plasma, he prevents all damage that would be done to him. I do wish to ask though, would the swans ability take place before the copy resolves? If so then it would still work. You just have to make sure you have another card in hand when playing Chain of Plasma.

my bad didnt see the prevent damage thing.
the combo would work by going. Chain to swan discard then draw then copy

So there we have it folks! A final conclusion to this deck's legality!

haha naw i'll still put it together, just trying to be courteous about me using the idea. I'm gonna throw a completely different spin on it tho, other than the infinite combo part, kinda gotta use that. I'm gonna make it legacy legal =p

You should make a legal deck around this instead.

Why not just use Stuffy Doll?

Stuffy doll wouldn't give you the needed card draw.

0

But it gives you infinite damage and less cards needed for the combo.

Stuffy Doll targets a player. It can't hit the Swans.

...Chain of Plasma + Stuffy Doll = 21 damage. It has nothing to do with the swan.

Having one combo could be ruined by something like Surgical Extraction. So it's nice to have more than one combo.

You could add Curiosity to Stuffy Doll for an infinite combo though.

0

You need Seven card in hand and Chain of Plasma and Stuffy Doll on the field to win.

Or curiosity with Stuffy Doll. Infinite combo.

Yes, but then you are adding a third card to the mix. With Chain of Plasma and just the swan, everything is simple and sweet.

Relying on one combo is bad.

Alot of big decks do that tho, show and tell decks usually only have show and tell for a win factor, same thing for dragonstorm decks and ect... You just gotta make sure you can beat them first or have a way to prevent them from stopping your one win combo.

And with this deck not being legal in any format makes that sorta ok.

I just don't see how adding two cards to make two combos in this deck is that big of a deal...geez.

It is just adding two cards, but with the way this deck works, the fewer cards in the combo the better. Did you notice how there are only two Swans of Bryn Argoll and one Chain of Plasma? As the creator said, this deck is about countering and burning every play your opponents make while searching through the deck to find those specific cards. If you added more that would mean you have less room for all your other, much needed spells. The sooner it can play its combo the better. And with the several counter spells in here, you can easily defeat things like Surgical Extraction. And keep in mind, i don't think your suggestion of the Stuffy Doll combo is bad. Its just that with a deck like this you would have to choose between the two, its just not able to run both. And besides, this deck isn't legal in any format so it doesn't really matter. He doesn't need to be prepared for competitive play, he can't play competitively anyway.

If you were to play this against a mill, discard, or sacrifice deck I don't see how it could win.

This is really interesting... I love Swans of Bryn Argoll though... Which is what caught my eye in the first place.
Looks pretty fun, I was hoping for a modern build though...
