Have you thought about using Oath of Jace? Oath is sorcery speed but it digs one deeper than Epiphany. When compared to Scheming the Oath doesn't dig as deep and it costs one more mana but you're not losing a card for the effect.

The key to epiphany is the pitch a card. EOT, I can throw a Headron into the yard, or draw into one before my upkeep. In all honesty though, if I owned Jace, it would take Epiphany's spot in a heartbeat. Thanks for the suggestion though!
