Deck Description

Hello and welcome to my list I've had for nearly 5 years with updates for Mishra, Artificer Prodigy. This deck is highly competitive and is not budget what-so-ever. My Commander playgroup is all decks like this and some of the choices might by meta but I have played this list outside of my group and it always done well. The deck is a stax deck at heart and it control the field until you can win with either comboing off or hitting with a blightsteel and has roughly a 75% win rate. I'll go into the details of the cards in the how to play section.

How to Play

So how the deck works is you get Mishra, Artificer Prodigy on the field and with a few key cards take advantage of how the stack works. The cards that work with his ability are: Nullstone Gargoyle, Blood Funnel, Ice Cave, Nether Void, but most importantly Possibility Storm and I'll explain how it works.

Nullstone Gargoyle, Nether Void, Ice Cave, and Blood Funnel(this being the best here) - Say you cast Sol Ring for 1 mana (zero with blood funnel), you trigger the effects of Mishra first then the counter ability of one of these second. When the stack resolves it counters Sol Ring putting into your graveyard and then Mishra's ability resolves allowing you to search your graveyard for a Sol Ring and put it into play. This also works if someone pays to counter Sol Ring with Ice Cave but you have to announce how you are stacking the triggers. With Mishra's ability on the stack first and Ice Cave on top if anyone pays the one to counter the Sol Ring then you can just find it from the graveyard and put it into play (this will normally only happen once).

Possibility Storm - So once again we will use Sol Ring as the example here. Casting Sol Ring for 1 mana triggering Mishra then Possibility Storm will resolve in Storm going off first getting you the next artifact in the deck (hopefully Blightsteel) and then search you deck for the Sol Ring (you put on the bottom) and put it into play netting value. Getting any artifact off of cheap mana rocks is the play here even if they are more mana rocks!

Thopter Assembly + Time Sieve = Infinite turns!!!!

Mycosynth Lattice + Karn, Silver Golem = 1 mana land destruction. The game never lasts long after this hits the table.

Mycosynth Lattice + Kill Switch = Lock down for everyone.

Unwinding Clock + Mycosynth Lattice + Kill Switch= Lock down for everyone but you. Note you have to use kill switch on each players upkeep and they can cast instances.

Power Artifact + Basalt Monolith/Grim Monolith = Infinite colorless mana.

Darksteel Forge + Mycosynth Lattice + Nevinyrral's Disk = People scooping.

This deck is light on lands I know but with all the rocks and extra mana lands I never have an issue. If you find that its a problem for you try to mull until you get a good mix and make sure you shuffle real well after each game. I hope you enjoy the list and I will be updating it in a couple weeks once I get into my new stuff a little more and will keep you guys informed.

Deck discussion for Mishra Control (KD)

um... this doesn't work at all as an commander deck. Mishra only grabs artifacts with the same name as what you cast, and you can't have multiples in commander...

or am I missing something?

You're missing a lot actually. There are quite a few cards in this deck that abuse Mishra's ability. I'll give you two examples: Possibility Storm is in play along with Mishra. You cast say Sol Ring putting Mishra's ability on the stack then Possibility Storm's. Here's how they resolve, Possibility Storm resolves getting you the next artifact in your deck (hopefully Blightsteel) then Mishra's ability resolves allowing you to search your deck for the Sol Ring that went on the bottom from Possibility Stormand put it into play. You can do the same for Nether Void by stacking Mishra's ability first then Nether Void your artifact gets countered because you didn't play three then you can search your graveyard for a copy of that card which is the card you casted and put it into play. I'll write a more detailed way to play when I get the chance.

ok, so it works if possibility storm is out.
and nether void and blood funnel do something different, but funny.
