Not a good option. A 5/4 vigilance trample just isn't a good enough play.

This deck is quite aggro, bigger elves are too much mana.
Yeah, it would stuff EVERYTHING up. Elvish Mystic would be so broken, as would most mana dorks.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's common knowledge. I wish it wasn't true, as I can see a WORLD of interesting things otherwise but...

It's more of an aggro deck, I had war called for a while in the peasant version but it didn't trigger enough. Thanks for the suggestions, though.! :-)
Yeah, pretty much. I just cripple them right out of the gate and use my numbers of elves to deal damage-mainly through might and shaman. Unfortunately there aren't any similar effects to might in standard - except maybe outnumber - or I would definitely be running them.
Any suggestions? There aren't many in standard - in fact, there are only Gnarlroot trapper and Thronbow Archer.

I think what he meant was 4 ofs of each common or uncommon (unless it's a relentless rats or shadowborn apostle, yada yada) unlike the limits of having at max 2 mythics in the deck and at most 4 rares.
