my friend has an awesome myr battlesphere deck that produces the 1/1 tokens and palladium myr to mana ramp into sphere which he equips with any boot that gives haste, myr galvanizer/tempered steel to make his army larger and a lot of your typical white control. It's actually quite impressive how well it works and rarely fails to produce a battlesphere.

basically
4 of each: myr battle sphere, palladium myr, myr galvanizer, hover myr and myrsmith.

then

4 of each tempered steel, master's call, arrest, dispatch

and

2 frantic salvage and 2 indomitable archangel then he'll squeeze in 2 strider harness's to give battlesphere haste

I have been running a myr deck for quite a while now. I just recently changed my deck to incorperate two innistrad cards, and this deck build is a bit old (should have the new version up soon), but this is prett much it.

Can you post one of the Myr decks you tried? The problem might be a matter of not getting out mana quickly enough. Most people tend to just use White with Myrs, but you could use some Blue for control cards Like Mana Leak. Here's an example of my Mrys for reference: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=233155

With the deck I run, the focus is entirely on Battlesphere. I use Myr turbine to try to get it out, and until then, I have intangible virtue and tempered steel to make the tokens I do have on the field strong enough to deal with any incoming attacks. I also have the infinite mana combo of 2 myr galvanizers and a palladium myr. They provide me with enough mana to cast something if needed, and provide a way to infinitely untap my myrs. When I have that on the field and swing with battlesphere, i can tap into it infinitely, and the game is over before the attack phase is over.
