Deck Description

I've been wanting to build a squirrel deck off and on for a while now, and I've also had an Epic Struggle for years and never pulled it off but in this deck I hope it'll work.

Cards that help make more squirrels; Chatter of the Squirrel, Druid's call, Squirrel Nest, Parallel Evolution.
Cards that Beef up my squirrels: Gaea's Anthem, Might of Oaks, Overrun,
Cards that do both: Nut Collector, Deranged Hermit, Squirrel Mob
Cards to defend me and my squirrels: Spidersilk Armor, Fog, Swarmyard

Deck discussion for We are Squirrels

This is the BEST. GREEN DECK. EVER!!! I usually hate green as a primary colour, but here it works. I usually just splash it for mana ramp, but this makes me want to run it lol 10/10 for being AWESOME

Bro i had a squirrel deck back when the original Mirrodin came out and it was legit. Kudos for the coolest creature type in magic.

I love MTG squirrels. I nearly fell over laughing when I heard the "we are squirrels song" for the first time.

Nice build. I just wish they'd print more squirrels.

if someone wrote a book where a Squirrel was the main charter and had to go on an epic quest to save his people from say the undead by going to the druids and gathering an army of druids and squirrels.

LOL maybe they'll make a squirrel planeswalker.

What about Deranged Hermit?

whoops. I must have made a mistake. I ment to add Deranged Hermit instead of Hermit Druid.
I'll change that now in a minute. (first deck I made on this site.)

I think that you might need some mana ramp just so you can play stuff quickly, e.g. Fertile Ground and Wild Growth. Also consider Doubling Season and Essence Warden. I like it though :)

Fertile Ground is kinda useless in a mono colored deck. Wild Growth is an old favrot of mine how ever. I think Doubling Season is illigal to play and Essence Warden may be restricted. rember I'm trying to make the deck so it can be played in a ranked game.

If you're feeling like being evil (and who isn't =P) I'd add in some Skullclamps. Crushing the skulls of a bunch of squirrels for your own benefit is without question evil as all hell, but it sure is fun, eh?

This is probably the best squirrel deck I've seen in a long time, and I've seen a lot of them.

Oh by the way, this is a token deck right? And it's green, correct? THEN WHERE THE HELL ARE THE DOUBLING SEASONS? =P

Ah I miss my squirrel deck! I wish I never traded it off :3

One thing. You gots'ta gots'ta gots'ta! run Krosan Beasts. They are simply too epic (and off the wall) for words to explain ;)

how is krosan beast a squirrel?

Who knows? It is a squirrel though (in case you didn't actually look at the card, and just it's title). It's an epic, amazing squirrel at that. An 8/8 heavy beater for 4 mana.

Krosan Beasts is cool but I got Might of Oaks in there because it's an instant that adds +7+7 to target creature.

wow um...i thought that since you picked such a random creature type this deck would be awful, but this isnt too bad. isnt too good either, but still.

Actually Hit, squirrels are the original Horde creature. It's not as random as you may think.

You do know that Squirrel Nest and Earthcraft makes infinite 1/1 Squirrel Tokens, right? :) Just throwing that out there for you.

might I suggest Echoing Courage instead of Might of Oaks. Target 1 token and they all get +2/+2

0
Posted 23 November 2010 at 20:34

that is a good idea but I put Might of Oaks in there because if the person you're attacking can only block 4 out of 5 squirrles and that squirrel is say a 2/1 you toss Might of Oaks on it and that's an instant +7 damage. it does cost 3 more mana but unless the other player can counter the card it can be quite surpriseing.

Am I the only one who sees this deck's name and thinks of that insurance commercial? "We. Are. Farmers. Bum-buh-bum-bum-buh-bum!"

Why not use doubling season to double the amount of tokens you put into play?

I have a friend who runs a squirrel deck every now and then and he used doubling season...alot...

Muraganda Petroglyphs Is a great enchantment card that gives creatures with no abilities +2/ +2. Loving the deck. :)

that's a good idea. I wonder how many squirrels with no abilites I can generate with this deck idea.

0

the reason I didn't use doubling season is because it can cost $25+ to buy and unless you put 4 of them in the deck it will be uncommon to pull that card and there's no way I'll spend $100 for any set of 4.
