Deck Description

Since Grixis delver is getting big with all the sweet new delve strategies, I thought I would have a go at Sultai delver, and well I love it! It has been putting up great results, hence the snub of Grixis in the title (I do think Grixis is awesome though) I'll be putting up results as I find them:
Abzan Coco: 2-1
Abzan Coco: 2-0
Abzan Coco: 1-2
UR Splinter Twin: 2-1 (still a very poor match up)
Burn: 2-1 (very bad before SB)
Jund: 2-0
Bloom Titan: 1-2
Bloom Titan: 2-1
Affinity: 2-1
Junk: 2-0
GR Tron: 0-2
Elves: 2-0
Grixis Delver: 2-0
Grixis Delver: 2-0
Grixis Delver: 2-1
Grixis Delver: 2-0

How to Play

Get delver out early and fill up your graveyard to effectively use the delve abilities to play out 5/5s and 4/4 tramplers on turn 3 to beat the face. Pack Rat can help fuel the engine but is under scrutiny over being a 'win more' card. The rest of the cards either fuel the fire or removal because all decks need removal!!
Sideboard plans:
UR Twin: Decay, Mana Leak and Hand destruction
Grixis Delver: Snapcaster, removal and feed the clan
Burn: Feed the Clan and Mana leak
Jund: Bitter Blossom, Abrupt Decay and Hand destruction
Abzan Coco: ALL THE REMOVAL!!! All the hand destruction too
Affinity: Feed the Clan, Abrupt decay and Bitter Blossom
Bloom Titan: Raven's Crime and Mana Leak
GR Tron: Hurricane (Direct Damage)

Deck discussion for Grixis Delver? Bitch Please!

1st thing this is sultai not grixis. 2nd id drop the delve mechanic to run dark confidant throw in remand and thoughtsieze

I think if you look at the deck tags, it clearly says Sultai, and the words below also say its for sure Sultai. The delve is what has made the delver decks good because turn 3 5/5s are far better than a bob

pack rat and delve looks cool but I agree with couch that goyf doesn't look good with delve if you really want delve im starting to like the card grave strength it might help

goyf or grave strength? Goyf XD during test its always still huge, again check out GerryT talking about it

While yes, you can nuke your own goyf, you're still a delever deck with many ways to put cards in your opponents GY.
can't argue with the numbers the deck seems to be puttings up.

does anyone have a link to cockatrice so i can update mine? it hasn't been updated since theros.

Any reason for not using remand/damnation/maelstrom pulse between main and side?

Prefer leak over remand, damnation in an aggro deck? and pulse is going in the sideboard, I'll check it out, although after Monday I probably wont be available till thursday #exams

I was thinking damnation as a 1 of in sb. And cyclonic rift just popped into my head...
Good luck with #exams.

I would suggest 2 tasigur over 2 gurmag angler.
Go for the throat over murderous cut, is more reliable at being a cheap removal spell against amulet bloom and splinter twin.
I'm not sure how to feel about goyf in a deck with so much delve, since delve will likely make goyf smaller. I would rather main snapcaster or dark confidant over goyf for this deck.
Illness in the ranks shits on twin. If the match up is poor you should definitely sideboard it.

That is just my 2 cents, if the deck is working well then ignore the previous statements.

I have been considering tasigur, but I'm just looking for a beat stick, cut works well with the deck as its a 1 mana kill anything. Goyf is always still strong with the sheer number of cards going into the bin. GerryT did a similar deck with Temur and he probably expalins Goyf 'n' drill better than me

It looks pretty solid, although there are some things I'm not so sure of.

The Grisly Salvage seems really unrequired here, just by playing delver you will naturally fill your graveyard with spells, so using Salvage seems a bit of a win-more if you know what I mean.
I would personally only run 4 of the Delve creatures, in this case I would say a 4x Gurmag is best, Tasigur is great but this is a delver deck, you will run off 2-3 lands most of the time, so his ability is less impressive then a solid 5/5 that kills Rhinos. This is especially true since you are also running 2 Murderous Cuts, which in there own could be some other reactive spell, Remands, Spell Pierce, Etc.

That would leave you with ... 6 spots (If my math is correct), and since you said your rough match ups are Twin/Burn, these can be done.
A Fourth Abrupt Decay can be used, just a general good card, kills all creatures in Twin and Burn.

I would bring your Mana Leaks up to 4, it seems too good to only have 2.

For the burn match up I would recommend using Inquisition Of Kozileks, half the time it catches the same things as Thoughtseize without the loss of life, you could change the numbers a bit on how you want the split of Thoughtseize/Inquisition to however the meta is.

And last of all, you need the fourth Tarmogoyf, the card is too good to not include the 4x.

With these changes the sideboard would change a bit. I love the idea of Bitterblossom as some decks just can't beat it. Since we (If we go with what I said) You should have give or take 3 or 4 slots, just some general good cards can come in, Golgari Charm is great, a Maelstrom Pulse for big problems.

Just noticed now, you should put some Basics into your land base, Blood Moon seems like the kiss of death if it ever resolves on you.

Golgari charm is certainly a thing which now that I think about it is amazing, I actually really like both the delve guys with the salvage, because hey a turn 3 5/5 and 4/4 trample (yes both together) is fair and fun! I've regularly managed to do that, so I want to leave that bit alone, also I'm not really a counterspell player xD The Raven's crime currently fills the spot inquisition would have and thats only because it fuels my graveyard too. I was literally trying to remember the name Maelstrom pulse the whole time!!!!!!! Yes I'm very scared of bloodmoon, not sure how I haven't played it yet! I'll see if I can fix something! Thanks for the help

If twin is a bad match up for you why don't you sideboard 2 illness in the ranks?
They can't really deal with them well once they land and it just wrecks them.

On top of that, illness in the ranks is also good vs tokens, and good vs storm.

Ye I was reading that illness was a good counter, I'll make some edits

It's just really easy to land and cryptic command is really there only way to deal with it once it is in play.

The reason you play it vs storm is because post board they will bring in Empty the warrens normally.
Or at least they do vs the decks I play.
