Deck Description

**Flavor Text**
"They say that no matter where we are in life, we all end the same. We all end in the grave. I believe that only from the grave can we truly begin with ourselves."

How to Play

**Any likes/comments/critiques are very appreciated! <3 :D :D <3

I know, we've been waiting for it. An easy deck idea that's been constantly remade, so why not make it tournament worthy? :D
To put this deck in a few words, it is a self mill aggro deck based on cards working from the graveyard.
There fore, for many cards of this deck to reach full potential, you need them in the graveyard, which is why this deck is packed with self mill cards which let you put a creature or a few land in your hand (:

**COMBO'S**
Death's shadow+ Varolz the scar stripped;
Get deaths shadow in the graveyard and put varolz on the field and suddenly varolz gets permanent +13/13 for the rest of the game :D And if you're having trouble getting deaths shadow in the graveyard, just summon him and he will kill himself XD

Bloodghast;
He is his own combo.. Just a phenominal card that supplies a constant aggro with this deck :D

Slither head+self mill;
If he's in your graveyard, you just get a free counter (:

Lotleth Troll;
You can use him to get bloodghast or slither head or deaths shadow into your graveyard, which is pretty amazing considering he gets buffed in the process ^-^

Deck discussion for My Power Is From The Grave

Looks awesome :D I would consider looking into Ghoultree instead of splinterfright

splinterfeight is another nice mill option, and i tried avoiding cards that would require me to have alot of creatures in the graveyard because they arent gonna stay in there long :p
but he would be sweet with varolz (:

BUT, if you're going to be scavenging, you're going to be loosing creatures in your graveyard, which lowers Splinter's attack and defense, unless you're scavenging FOR him ;3;

but he self mills for me and is atleast gonna be a two two or three three :D
Self mill is his selling point, he's not meant to be a power hitter (;

One, not using splinterfright, who can be a power hitter easily with trample, also I believe your only trample in here, as a power hitter is plain silly. There is plenty of other self mill to add. Secondly, they did this deck on the website months ago. Also, need corpsejack menace.

Nvm lotleth has trample.

I use stuff like Jarad's Orders to get Death's Shadow into the graveyard since it is search. If you use that, then you could get Varolz in your hand AND Death's Shadow into the graveyard, ready for scavenging. Also something like Spire Tracer is a simply annoying and handy card for this combo!

jarads orders is amazing and that does make jarads orders an awesome idea....but its so expensive!! D: I'll think about it after this upcoming tourney i have (:

Are we looking at the same card? Because I have seen them go for 50 cents....

lol I meant mana XD

It is only 4 mana........

which is expensive for a search!! (: Id rather play buried alive! :D get three deaths shadow or two of those and a bloodhgast and then use my search mill cards and get varolz when he shows (:

why dont you add 2 hinterland harbor just incase for the flashback for tracker's instinct? also, another idea is remove a varolz, and add a splinterfright. Nice deck!

0

varolz is an essential card in this deck whilst splinterfreight is useful at times, but not an essential, and i only play four of essential cards (:

0
Posted 13 December 2013 at 01:35

Permalink

not to mention i dont want to get too risky with lands and i have no harbors right now XD

0

but varolz is legendary, with 4 you will usually draw more than one.

it's only 3

0

oh, well its way too expensive, i might play putrefy however (:

Really solid deck! I wouldn't change anything, but some suggestions to add to your sideboard would be nether traitor, a somewhat weaker version of bloodghast, and entomb, which I find at times better to use than buried alive.

Any particular reason why you aren't running rot farm skeleton?

0

Corpsejack menace and night howler would be good

0

Some cards to ponder: Culling the Weak, Diabolic Intent, Victimize, Rescue from the Underworld
Otherwise, solid deck.

I might want to test and edit this but it's not modern legal. What would you replace Buried Alive with in a modern setting:?

A couple Brawn would be nice if you could fit them in.

0

What about entomb? it will fit perfect in this deck i think

I played around with it on Forge and it works really well. You only need 3 mana to let it do its job. I won almost every game with it. Like some others have said, Brawn and Nighthowler maybe. I don't think you need them though.

what is forge?? :p

0

Forge is a program that lets you play Magic on your computer, free of cost. It's buggy at times because it isn't backed by WotC (this is NOT illegal in anyway). You can play against AI players.

Well I really have to say that I love that combo for death's shadow and Varloz. That sounds hilarious!

Maybe....more multicolored land?

0

Yeah. Overgrown Tomb definately

0

Also, if you want to make this modern, I can suggest taking out the 4 buried alives and add in 4 Commune with the Gods.

WHY NO SHOCK LANDS?????

0

Well they can be expensive to get.....

then your not committed to the deck plus they are only like 9 $

0

shock lands as in verdant catacombs if you mean is ridiculously over priced, which is completely understandable. I had a playset of verdants, however for every single one I sold (35 dollars a piece) I could buy a whole nother deck :p
This deck is actualy funded by a single number of one of those cards :D

0

That's not a shockland. Shocklands are lands that let you pay 2 life for them to enter untapped. Verdant Catacomb is a fetchland.

Nice deck! This is a cool build that uses simple mechanics to an awesome effect! Have you considered Corpsejack Menace? Force of Savagery would be beastly along with Varolz, and can provide a use for Buried Alives that you might draw after getting the first one to fetch the ghasts.

http://www.mtgvault.com/pkmnfn/decks/budget-greenyard-games/
I have a green deck that also makes use of the graveyard- I didn't use black, but I think that your input as someone who built this deck would still be pretty helpful. Would you mind looking it over?

Absoloutly man! (:
thanks for giving advice rather than just saying "look at this" haha its a nice change of face on the vault tbh (:
And corpsejack menace is being considered but im not too sure on it :p

This deck is atrocious, it has no beards at all, to say nothing of Epic Beards like Heliods. Unless you count the dude in the background of Mulch who I think has a beard (hard to tell)

0

I know, green and black are very weak in the beards section of magic! D:
but, somehow it manages to pull it together and finish the game before any beards hit the field (:

0

Well I suppose it does atleast have some boobs in treasured find, which isn't half bad. No beard though.

Ive always loved golgari graveyard decks. So many combos to choose from. I dont know if you have him but phyrexian dreadnought can be something else to scavenger onto. He is a one drop 12/12 that sacrifices itself unless you sacrifice creatures with total power equaling 12.
