Deck Description

The army of clerics stood before us. We remained still, waiting for them to summon their demon masters. Our patience however, proved to be our downfall, for instead of summoning demons, they all transformed into one of the most terrifying beasts known throughout the multiverse; Vampire Nighthawk.

How to Play

Summon as many shadowborn apostle's as you can. Drop coat of arms early if you find them dying off. Otherwise wait til you have infinite reflection, then drop a nighthawk and cast it on him. Then let your army begin to rise into the sky, only to rain down death onto those below.

I like how this deck is marked as illegal because it has more than 4 Shadowborn Apostle's haha.

I know its the same story with my other decks that use creatures like it.

http://www.mtgvault.com/gykx/decks/extorting-those-born-of-shadow/
http://www.mtgvault.com/gykx/decks/ripples-of-clerics-and-demons/
http://www.mtgvault.com/gykx/decks/rats-rats-everywhere/

Problem with door is one creature type and "enters the battlefield" most will be on the field when they become nighthawks, thats why im running coat of arms at risk of aiding my opponent.

Fixed the legality issue, Shadowborn Apostle is now in the whitelist!

Awesome thanks Ian! out of curiosity is there anyway you could link the whitelist to the proxy page so it doesn't max out non basic lands at 4?

Didn't even realise that was an issue. Will note it down and take a look. :)

Maybe some card advantage? Something to let you draw?

i don't think this is viable without a few demons and removal. decks are just too fast.

it can be, or
Starting hand: Swamp, 2x dark ritual, 4 shadowborn apostle = 4 1/1 turn 1
Starting hand: Swamp, 2x dark ritual, thruming stone, 1 shadowborn apostle = A LOT OF 1/1's turn 1

But what are the odds?

Also, starting hand 2 does not have that outcome.

out of 32 test draws i got one of the two a total of 10 times so about 30%

Now, do it once, because that all you get in a duel

To bottom line it:
Mizzium Mortars (overload)
Bonfire of the Damned (for 3)
3 Electrickery (overload)
Slaughter Games (targeting Shadowborn Apostle)
The list goes on...

I understand that all decks have weaknesses but at the strongeset your deck can be, these cards make you lose, not crippled, lose. "Nu uh! I put in Cost of Arms" Yeah, there are no artifact killers out there...

I'm just saying, for this deck to win it takes a the God Hand as well as a lot of luck.

Haha honestly...I did this idea with Relentless Rats. It turned out not too successful because everyone I play with isn't noobs and has defense. Though I bothered putting in some defense it still wasn't as great as I had hoped.

You guys do realize there is more to Magic: The Gathering than winning right? Obviously every single deck that will ever be created will have strengths and weaknesses, some more than others, some very few. The point of the game is to HAVE FUN!!!!!!!! Have fun making deck, playing around with ideas, coming up with unique ideas and concepts for decks and try to make something work that no one else has been able to. Listing everything wrong with a deck and everything that can counter it, takes away from the fun of the game.

I agree. I have decks that are even highly unlikely to win but when they trigger they are a lot of fun.

The fun of having ideas is perfecting those ideas and watching them be successful. I have an idea. I'll make a deck where all creatures have no abilities. Total record 0-38. That's not fun. Why play if you know you're doomed to fail. There are ways to make this doable, you just gotta find them.

This deck could be better yes, it can also win as is, it can lose as is, and it can lose when improved.

No unfortuantely that one is long since taken apart, it used a lot of fog spells and power ramp with wild defiance

This here is my favorite example of a deck i made that was viable as is, but was able to be made much better. Some decks can do it a lil bit, some can do it a lot a bit.

You can't use Apostles to summon your Nighthawks, so why bother?
By the way, those of you who were listing cards like Slaughter Games, you forgot Reap Intilect

-1

The point is to have several of a non token creature to use infinite reflection on to have an army of nighthawks

If you can search for a Demon, why not put in some Desecration Demon? When you get the Mana out, you can easily smash them, so please consider it.
Maybe you could Sideboard it?

Well, it certainly looks like a fun deck. Huge amount of weaknesses, but that doesn't seem to be the point. The point is more that it's an interesting combo that seems fun, so credit should go to that more than functionality.
Only thing that I could suggest to improve that fun aspect is mix up your Infinite Reflection targets. Nighthawk is very nice, but you could mix it up a little by using targets like Hypnotic Specter (Lot of free discard effects? Yes please!) or Blistergrub (Don't kill them and you die. Kill them and you still die!). Means you or your opponent will never quite know what's going to win you the game. But that's just my idea of fun.
