Deck discussion for Black Control

I fail to see the point in having Verdant Catacombs, or Marsh Flats in this deck... It makes no sense, it's like having Jace the Mind Sculptor in a mono green deck, or Nicol Bolas in mono white... If you need a deck shuffle just use the cheaper non-pain methods of Evolving Wilds, and Terramorphic Expanse!

Also, this deck is epically screwed by simple cards like Spreading Seas, or any form of Merfolk deck...
Five is the base, it means I have no feelings towards the deck, six is average, and seven if I like the deck. This is the second time I've ever bothered rating a deck I see as unfit, overall 4.3/10

rofl, another complete scrub trying to act tough, ill give you 10 seconds counted by these periods to realize why marsh flats and verdant catacombs are effective . . . . . . . . . .
times up, you still fail (probally) its something called deck thinning, each time i play one of these lands i dropped (basically) 2 out of the card pool, allowing me to grab less land and far more useful cards, and then you probally should read grim discovery, this also allows the card to become somewhat of a mana accelerator, next time you even attempt to comment on my decks please realize i have far more experience than you.

Act tough? No, when I'm acting tough, I have a knife in each hand, and somebody at my feet bleeding out... Rude yes, tough no.

Also I realize it's a deck thinner, however, I also realize a turn one Circu or Mind Funeral must wreck your world... The point isn't that they're bad cards, I love those cards, but that you need something to make sure you don't get milled by another control deck. Or perhaps run over by artifact aggro, or basically any other control based deck. Maybe that deck works in your meta, but in my area it would simply get milled for infinite turn two, and us still have mana for us to Extirpate what hits your graveyard...

k, your idiocy needs a true bashing, so i will make you feel like a flea heres where i tell you about every idiotic statement you have said thus far.
Deck shuffle: how would i know i need a "deck shuffle" if i dont even know what my next card is?
Evolving Wilds and terramorphic expanse: extract has already explained this in a far kinder way than i would for you right now.
Spreading seas or any form of a merfolk deck: i cant even possibly understand why a creature based deck is going to have an unfair advantage on a deck that emphasizes on removing creatures. and while im on this subject, are you going to tell me every single deck youve ever made was never weak to another kind of deck? like really how retarded of a statement is this?

mind funeral: really? this deck is standard an infant that knows the rule set can figure this out
an artifact deck: come on dude there is only ONE card that is even affected by this and that can easily be cleansed by a sideboard

the only thing i can agree with as been said before is it is weak to a control deck, but as ive already said are you going to claim you can make a deck with zero weaknesses? get over yourself and stop attempting to sound smart, it CLEARLY is not working.

i should also point out how obvious you have made it that you did not realize what purpose the lands served, and how you tried to change the subject to focus on weaknesses of the deck, that exist in every deck ever made, clearly outclassed, im finding this amusing please continue if you are able.

oh i caught one of my own idiotic statements, im sorry there are zero cards in this deck that are affected by artifacts, no need for the sideboard. it was just a stupid statement thru and thru i guess i gave you too much credit

The utility of the Sac Lands as deck thinners is useful but unless you're going to use them for early and persistent harassment from Blood Ghast (Or crazy Ob-Nix ramp) they aren't really worth it (Money wise, of course). You might have difficulty in the Meta just because your only 100% reliable life gain to counteract saccing lands all over the place is Vampire Nighthawk and a lot of removal will be directed at him. The Consuming Vapors is good to make up for the lands, but if you play White Weenie or some other agro deck or a non creature based like RDW or U/W control you might have trouble when a Fireball hits you for 10 when you're low and you can't recover. I'd probably just SB Corrupt or something to deal with that to have direct life gain. Maybe SB some assassinates for BvB

i dont understand why your commenting on this but, atleast you have a brain, and this was for a deck challenge to give extract ideas, i didnt actually make the deck or youd see my sideboard.

nice stuff
whiteandbluetheykillyou, those lands come in untapped, which is why evolving wilds and t-expanse are not viable (especially in a single colored deck)
he is also able to offset the life loss with the nighthawk.

anyways, couple things with the deck:
-i like the gatekeeper, i think i should run them because i really want persecutor to be in the deck and that's a way to get rid of him
-royal assassin is an iffy card, ya know? hasn't seen play for awhile, but maybe it could come back. my only probably is that you have to take damage from the attacking creature before you kill it. but who knows it may be better in control.
-third is the psychic miasma. in the standard format, without blightning, the format is left with psychic miasma, mind rot, mind sludge for discarding cards. miasma is definitely not a viable card because of the baloths and vengevines that dominate many of the decks.

so all-in-all nice stuff

you dont have to take damage from a creature before you kill it with royal assassin, creature abilitys are treated as instants (e.x. your opponent taps his army to hit you now, before the damage step you tap royal assassin and go haha), and as far as miasma not being "viable" you just named 2 green cards that make it "not viable" if your going to go as far to say this you may as well say all discard cards are not viable. and then as far as the vengevines go, your opponnent needs more than one creature in his hand for him to be able to use vengevines ability, im not saying this deck will KEEP your opponent at zero cards, but bear min it will stop a green deck in its tracks easily.

ah yes
i suppose royal assassin fits the control theme well then

mhmm
i see you haven't played too many aggro decks that use vengevines and baloths. Because look at what you could get out of the miasma:
1) Play it on turn 2: they discard...one card from there hand. and it's not a land. ok so miasma is gone
OR
2) Play it on turn 2: they discard a vengevine, and they're deck is BUILT around aggro so fast creatures that combo for two spells to bring back vengevines is nothing difficult. the point of vengevines in a deck is to get it INTO the graveyard. especially if they've fetched one with fauna shaman
OR they play a baloth and you get totally screwed.

so the benefit...not that great (why mind sludge and mind rot was never viable because of the CMC, and why even blightning got boarded out because fauna shaman, baloth, and vengevine came into the picture) and the consequences? very bad. so i'd rather put in something that actually DOES something all the time consistently. not just in certain situations that don't even benefit that greatly (like sure when it works, will it really help win you the game? very rarely)

i still dont quite agree with you because of extremely complicated circumstances (and many of them) however if you dont want the discards im sure youll sideboard it for something else
