This deck runs slow. Creatures are meant to hold off opponents until Disciple or Gray Merchant can be cast. Once the Whip is out, life gain and recast dead disciple, merchant, or overlord. Still Pack Rat can make this deck fast and aggro.

I find that, with you playing Whip of Erebos, its practically Unblockable skill can help you gain life a bit faster. That, and damage is easier to slip through.
