Deck Description

I'm new to commander and have been working on this deck for a couple weeks now. What was orginially conceived as a mono-blue wizard-themed list has now started evolving into a combo-packed turn-takin' machine loaded with some of my favorite spells in the game.

How to Play

Early game you want to lay low. Play friendly with the table, giving out cards with things like Font of Mythos, Otherworld Atlas, and Jace Beleren or just set yourself up with the Divining Top, Thran Dyanmo, whatever. Around your sixth turn or so, you'll be able to Time Warp into several turns and really set yourself up with a bunch of clones of the board's best creatures or lock'em down with Teferi+Knowledge Pool.

The list definetly needs work.

Changes made so far..

7/8/2013 -- Added in Omniscience and Enter the Infinite, removing Amass the Components and Ghostly Flicker. Ghostly Flicker is nice, but is it being maximized in this deck. I don't run enough EtB effects to justify keeping it in.

Changes I plan on making..

I plan on switching generals after I obtain a few more key spells from my wishlist. Teferi is a fantastic general, argueably one of the best for Mono-Blue builds, but he is just too threatening at table seating so many. Both Azami, Lady of Scrolls and Kami of the Crescent Moon are contenders for replacing the Mage of Zhalfir. At the moment it is a toss up between the two. I'll probably try both out and see which one fancies me better.

- Glasses of Urza / +Isochron Scepter -- While the Glasses certianly add more flavor, the Scepter will enable me to imprint Mystical Tutor, High Tide, whatever.

There are a lot of other spells I want to acquire for the main board and the side board. I will provide a list of these cards once I narrow it down a bit.

Deck discussion for [EDH] Some Kind of Blue

Omen Machine works the same way with Teferi as Knowledge Pool does. Both result in spell lockdown for your opponent(s).

Omen Machine, eh? Don't know how I missed that one! But while I do like locking down my pals and watching them squirm, one outlet for this combo is enough. I noticed last night they weren't too fond of that 'neat little combo.' xD

Maybe consider using Azami as your commander. I do in my mono blue wizards, and she creates an amazing draw scenario. Also, add Myr Battlesphere and Wurmcoil Engine to your fatty list. Those two cards are the reason that my mono blue deck can win with Iona on the board. Also I didn't notice if you have one, but if you're adding mindslaver, make sure you add academy ruins for the lock

Azami was my the other option I was considering alongside the lil' Kami. I hadn't considered Battlesphere and Wurm Coil Engine though! Yes, I like those two options A LOT. Also, thanks for clearing that up! Fixing my list right now!

Have you thought of running the creature Ertai as your commander or creature in your deck. He is a really heavy wizard controller, and he has the best flavor text and best flavor text on other cards.

Azami is a better general than Ertai, as she lets you draw into things like counterspells that cost less than Ertai's ability does. I too, run a Wizard EDH. Bribery, Treachery, Desertion....= Lulz

I think I'll be picking up Ertai for the main deck pretty soon. I prefer Azami or Teferi seeing as they can pull off combos/help lock down the board quicker.

I also run a wizard tribal azami if you need any help. Also look into maybe door of destinies.

Fixing to go check your list now! :D I'll probably be grabbing a Door of Destinies once I obtain some more wizards. Ertai, Rayne, Vedalken AEthermage, Sower of Temptation, Memnarch and (eventually) Venser, Shaper Savant are all on my wishlist.

Oh I also really like diplomatic immunity. That is a cool card.

Oh and a better version of glasses of urza is Telepathy which is a blue 1 cost enchantment.

The Glasses are going to be replaced here soon with something a bit more useful. At the moment, I'm looking to trade/buy an Isochron Scepter. I'd have used Telepathy in the meantime- but I don't own any D:

The izzet vs golgari dual deck pack has an Iso scepter in it, as well as an array of great edh stuff like brainstorm, browbeat, eternal witness, life from the Loam, and of course, one of the best generals ever, Niv-Mizzet the firemind
